2019 CX-5 Leaking oil under the car

have cx-5 2019 also after 20k have oil leak had extensive oil dye and borescope done;
determined cracked and or casting imperfection at cylinder head above exhaust manifold
leaking engine oil.drop it off at Mazda dealer will see what they cover under warranty.
Warranty expired on 5/2003.

You seems to have a 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation instead of a 2.5T turbo like the OP has. The cracked cylinder head happens on this engine and it’s a design flaw not the casting imperfection. Mazda modified the original cylinder head to accommodate additional components for CD. The cracked area near exhaust manifold has only 2mm thin wall which could crack and leak oil at certain point.

If your 5-year / 60K-mile powertrain warranty has expired, you’re under the mercy of Mazda North American Operations and hopefully they’d help you a bit on repair cost which’d be expensive. Read that long thread so that you can understand more on cracked head which is a design flaw, not a casting imperfection. Once you have more knowledge on this problem, you may have more weapons to talk to MNAO directly.

Mazda had a batch of bad Molds for their cylinder head and the outcome is coarse aluminum housing. The Dealer should fix it under your drivetrain warranty.
