Please review the Mazda Dealer communication below. Mazda has issued a Customer Service Program (CSP11) to extend the limited powertrain warranty to 10 years/120k mi for any owners experiencing the coolant leak. Further, any owners who have paid out of pocket for these repairs may be eligible to receive reimbursement for costs incurred.

This CSP11 is applicable to the following models (if equipped with the 2.5T):
  • 2016-2020 CX-9
  • 2019-2020 CX-5
  • 2018-2020 Mazda6

"To eliminate this concern, the design of the exhaust manifold gasket and the cylinder head has been modified to reduce the force on the cylinder head" - from TSB.

Hopefully newer 2.5T should be free of this issue. Fingers crossed.

Major update on this issue! Please refer to the first post in this thread.

This is a huge positive step for Mazda. I own two Mazdas that fall in the date range of having this potential issue and was not too happy about keeping these vehicles past 70-80k. Before the letter, I was never going to buy another Mazda. This promise restores my faith in the brand.
