2017 and Valentine One

:
Mazda CX-5 GT
Anyone know if a current (w/Junk-K Fighter) Valentine One radar/laser detector works without false alarms generated via the various CX-5 radar units? I've got an old Valentine One that is unusable because of all the K-band radar gear on other vehicles, and am considering getting an upgraded V1. Thanks!

I'm following this question with interest. I will be in the same boat. My 17 year old Valentine is getting pretty useless even without my current car having radar cruise control and such. I did, at least, figure out how to disable laser alerts so it isn't set off by tail lights.

Looks like I may have to go with the Escort Max 360.

I had a V1 back in 2011 and it was awesome. You do have to go into the settings and modify a few things, but it was reliable, effective, and quite. Most vehicles use X band, I had thought? I NEVER had issues with vehicles with mine, and Mazda is the last to the game with tech stuff, so I am sure 2011 common vehicle tech was = to 2017 mazda.

Send it in for a revamp. They will upload all the latest and greatest software as well as update hardware.

Don't know about the V1 but my older Escort/Passport works fine with no issues from the CX-5's systems.

Mine's too old for just a software update. I'd send it in and they'd basically put a brand new one inside my timelessly designed case/shell. But costs $100s , so time to look around if that is the best option.

Escort and V1 owners constantly bicker. They both work fine, but "I love the arrows". So I'd save money and send in the V1, if I were you, but you may prefer other systems.

One thing I do notice between the two, is that Escort owners report far less false alarms than Valentine owners. Just something I noticed from various forums.

If you do not program the V1, it's noisy AF. If you go in and properly set it up, mine was VERY quiet. Sometimes eerily so.

Here is a demo of mine. Pleased with how well it picks up, usually 1-2 miles ahead:

I have the Escort Redline and it is set, to ignore other bands, that are not around LA area. I'm only on Ka band. Mine is only a Touring model, so I don't have to worry about interfering with fancy equipment, but it's been very quiet. I don't have the arrows, which would be nice to have. On mine, I never know from where is coming the warning.
It was a way to good deal to pass on it, so I got the Redline. $300 brand new unopened, with the Escort Live.

Exactly, noone uses X band anymore outside of BFE nowhere, and K band is quickly giving way to Ka and Ka 35.5, I believe it is. However, in some areas, Radar detectors are worthless. In South Louisiana for example, I wouldn't waste the money on one. They all use Lidar, and as soon as it hits you, you're pretty much done. All the RD does is tell you "Congrats!" and piss the officer off when they see it/make them feel cocky that "they caught you even still!"

The Escort 360 has dual antennae and has directional arrows (including for the sides). Valentine's patent must have expired on that.

I don't think it tells you how many signals, but it can learn the location of false alarms and ignore them in the future.

Correct, patent expired.

I actually got a ticket last year, and it was a Lidar. When you hear the beep, it is too late, the cop has a reading already.
It was in Azusa on Irwindale, close to the 210.

The only defense against laser radar guns are jammers, which are illegal. So best bet is to use radar detector plus Waze and hope someone else reported the cops location beforehand. The Escort Live service should work as well though I haven't tried it yet.

I have the Live, but I'm not using it. Most likely, there are more users on Waze anyway.

I am using the Uniden R3 right now and so far no falsing issues. I am using the coiled power cable for now. I will hardwire it myself as soon as I get my kit back from the dealer after they remove it from my traded car. Just not sure If I will be able to use my Cobra 9200BT for ghetto arrows, might probably pic up those BSM from car.

Here is my setup, on a 14'.
