2014 Cx-9 OEM navigation installation and door lock

Hi everyone,

I have two questions about 2014 cx-9 touring AWD (it does not have the push botton start, just the regular remote control) and I hope some people can help me out (especially current owners):

1. If any of the 4 doors is opened and I try to lock the doors from my remote control, the doors will lock, even though at least one door is opened. Is this normal? I have driven many cars in the past but none of them was like this. If at least one door is ope (e.g. driver side door), then the doors should not be locked from the remote controler.

2. I'd like to purchase and install the OEM mazda navigation and I found the installation guide here (http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/yhst-24809172479195/2014cx9nav.pdf). I followed every step except the last one, GPS Connector Installation (For US/Canada) on page 4. Can someone please explain to me what the step is for and where I can find the Bluetooth unit? At very high level, am I supposed to unplug something and then plug it into something else?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine is a 2010, not sure about the door locks, have to check-I rarely use the remote.

As far as your nav, so you haven't bought the unit yet? It seems like on page 4 you have to disconnect the connector from the bluetooth and insert it in the GPS connector (which seems it should just be there). I think you have to print the picks, pay attention to the pedal and steering shaft position and try to find the connectors under the panel. I agree that the instructions are kind of vague, on par with stuff you buy from Ikea;

Thank you very much! Would you mind to share whether your doors would still lock if you try to lock from the remote control while at least one door is open?

No, I have not purchased the NAVI unit yet, because I am not clear if I am capable of installing it. I looked under the driver seat. I see steering shaft, but I don't see anything that can be unplugged. So I posted this hoping someone who has the exerience can help me out.

Again, appreciate your comment and help!

i have the keyless fob and if i try to lock the door from my fob, with say the driver's door open, the doors will lock and then immediately unlock.

if i try to lock the door from the button on the door (with a door open) the doors will lock and then when i shut the door they will unlock. i find this very annoying. i have the habit of locking my doors as i am getting out of the car. but then when i shut the door the door unlocks and i have to hit the outside door handle button to lock or use the fob as i am walking a way. a minor inconvenience.

i can only lock my doors from the inside when they are all shut.

Okay, I tried and if the door (in this case driver's), is open, I can lock with the fob and it doesn't unlock.
I can lock the doors manually with the door switch when I open it to get out, and it doesn't unlock.

I remember when I bought the car, I found the programming for the door locks on the edmunds forum; I programmed it to open all doors when I put in part and lock them when I take it out of park. I am saying this because I am not sure if this also changes how the fob and manual locks work.

My big pet peeve is the lights that stay on after you turn the car off ( and then a buzzer notifies you that lights are on). My 2000 Dodge had a better system and that was 10 yrs older and Dodge...
