WOW! Just read on my current issue of Motor Trend that the new 2011 MY Mustangs are cosmetically unchanged...however, the new GT will have a brand spanking new 5.0L DOHC 32-valve putting out about 412HP and the base model is getting non-other then Ford's/Mazda's 3.7L V6 DOHC 24-valve tunned up to 305HP and adapted to do duty as a rear wheel drive (obviously).

Just thought I'd share this with you for those of us who love our Mazda's and are also car geeks.

It was, but it didn't produce 305hp, lol. The new v6 with a couple mods will probably be pretty quick.

Downgrading.....

OLD:

4.0L
SOHC
12-Valve
210 HP
240 lb.-ft Torque
26 hwy MPG (Manual Trans)

New:

3.7L
DOHC
24-valve
305 HP
280 lb.-ft Torque
30 hwy MPG (Manual Trans)

...not nearly a downgrade. More efficient with better performance and better fuel economy...YES!

I'd trade ours in immediately for a 365HP 3.5.

I test drove a 2010 Flex Limited with Ecoboost last week. Awesome drive train, especially at this elevation. I figured the Ecoboost is getting the same HP as the LS3 in my Corvette due to loss at 5000'.

Will Ford share ecoboost with Mazda? Could be a real winner in the cx9.

Ecoboost 3.5L would definately be the ultimate engine for the CX-9. Mazda would definately continue and back up its Zoom-Zoom motto. I can definately see at the very least the 305HP 3.7L making its way into perhaps 2011 or 2012 CX-9s because that very engine is also being debuted in the 2011 Ford Edge "Sport" trim only. So I would say be in the look out for this engine perhaps next year or so.

Power cravings.....mmmmm
Wonder if they would do that?
Given that an all new cx-9 is expected when? 2012 MY? 2013MY?
