2010 CX-9 Sport AWD Head Unit Upgrade Issue with 3 Button Steering Wheel

Hello Everyone,

I just installed L6 Pro Android 128G (purchased via Alibaba) and replace the OEM Factory Radio with 6 CD Changer, installation are all ok except classic issue of Steering Wheel Control not responding for learning and teaching. After chatting with Customer Service,I was advise to make a re-connection of the CANBUS.Afterwards,3 of the button was teached/learned and all are ok ,however the other 3 is not responding.
Please see related pixs and link of the Product.
Overall: Satisfied with the unit, big clear screen and apple car play working perfectly.
Notes: My CX9 has a reverse camera, after the upgrade this camera is not functional anymore.Different connector may be needed.I just installed a Rear Mirror Dashcam and a Reverse Camera.
OEM Radio is with 6 CD Changer with Bose Sound System.

Dashcam: https://www.temu.com/goods.html?_bg..._1735329431116_jsjb4tolls&refer_page_sn=10045

Question: Does anyone have some instruction how to reteach the other 3 remaining buttons steering wheel switch?

thanks
Neil

You haven't found out how many OE features aren't working.

The only way to install an aftermarket headunit in a first gen CX-9 is to use the PAC Audio RP4-MZ11 or Maestro RR interface. Using these retains 97.2% of the OE functions. This is the only way.

Here is my install, and pretty much everything works as it should.

Thanks Bronco Boy...so far :
1. Existing Back up Camera Not Functional
2. The 3 Buttons steering wheel Not Functional (note: I think I can live with this...)
Will check further...

I am not sure if I have budget to make a re-install...will review your install...
I am on a dispute for a partial refund with the Alibaba Vendor...

Reviewing Your Post: If I will Purchased the B/U Camera Harness AXBUCHMZ6V and re-wire do u think I can maintain the backup camera funtion?I have seen a Video Input from the Androd Unit.
I also found installation instruction from your linlk, just reviewing it now..im getting lost to "where to where " the wiring would be...

I installed a BOSS unit in my 2012 GT and it looks almost identical to the Bronco Boy install. It does differ in that the mic is under the steering wheel and it works well there. I also ran the USB connector over by the drivers side.

I purchased my setup from Crutchfield some time ago but it did include the harness that allows the steering wheel buttons to operate, most of them anyway. It also came with the camera connector that retained the OE camera. Oddly this unit has better resolution than the original had.

I used Crutchfield for their technical support and they solve the issue I was having in real time. It was a bad instruction in the write-up and we corrected it on the fly.

Thanks Rowlands57…yes I saw your post as well…i have good experience with Crutchfield when I made an upgrade head unit for my son’s corolla..however when im doing research the cost would reach around 800$+…also saw the details of bronco boy…kenwood hu is already 700$,currently my soending is just 175$…i will reachout crutchfield by monday to ask about the camera harness…i emailed also technical support from broncos link…im hoping this would work for the oem b/u camera…

Thanks for the response ,will keep you posted…

Happy New Year Guys!
So just finished a call with Crutchfield, the Harness AXBUCHMZ6V is not showing as an accessory for my vehicle, thus it showing "DOES NOT FIT" Online,I was advised to reach out directly to Metra.

Metra stated the harness will only work if my Vehicle has the navigation screen,of which is not I only have the 4.3" screen...I have a B/U Camera on the way which is compatible with the android unit...

There will be like 3 camera's later on in the rear LOL...I may just have it as a reserved.
The dashcam and rear camera is currently recording both video which we preferred.

currently my total spending with tax is @ $193.36 with this project, still have a 100$ dispute with the Alibaba Seller.

Overall: I will stick to this setup, minimum functiona that I need are all available.

thanks for the feedback and support.
Neil
