2007 Mazda 3 Seatbelt Warning Light

I had my 12 lb dog sitting on the passanger seat last night without the seatbelt on, and the in dash warning light came on. The dog moved from the seat and the light went off. Has anyone else experience this? Is this a new safety feature?

I assume you're talking about the passenger airbag light next to the lighter, right? If there's anything weighing less than 50 lbs on the seat then the light comes on to tell you that the airbag is disengaged.

I noticed that as well but, Im refering to the seatbelt icon that is on the dash by the speedometer.
