I received notice of this recall yesterday. It applies to certain 2007-2009 Mazda3 and Mazda5 vehicles, produced from April 2, 2007 through November 30, 2008.
I'm posting this information because if you purchased your vehicle used and Mazda wasn't notified of the vehicle change of ownership you may not have received the notice. You can call Mazda customer assistance at 800-222-5500, option #6 for information.
Problem; Sudden loss of power steering assist, steering becomes difficult.
Mazda will fix the problem. Presently the required service parts are in short supply. Mazda will send a second notice when the parts become available.
