hi all
i need information about the millenia s, any that can be given wiould be great
please no bashing i just need real good info. problems to look for and such or positive feed back about it

i am up in the air about this car, i have already purchased it and it is going to be only a daily driver for me and my wife. will it be a reliable car.

also i have smoke coming out the exhaust, it doesn't seem to be burning oil, shoudl i be concerned, ( smoke is white but not coolant. ) it just smells like burnt fuel.

it says to use premium only in the engine will it hurt if i use regular. also i am loosing oil from this vehicle again i'm quite certain that it's noe being burnt, has anyone else had this problem.. if so let me know i would like to have an idea on where to start. the is 183000km on it and then timing belt and transmission have just been serviced.

let me know asap please to anyone who views this

tks

sincerely

milleniaman

You really should run premium in a supercharged application. Take off the intercooler pipe on the front of the engine and see how much oil is in there. These cars are notorious for blower failure.

well i started runnign premium and the smoke has gotten better. i still need to find the source of the oil burn. also the cars engine will just run away and ilde at like 1500-2500 no load when ever it wants too. it has done this twice
any info woud be nice

check the throttle position sensor and the idle air screw (they should both be located on the throttle body) for the high idle. Does ur idle bounce up and down?

White sulfur smelling smoke is a sign of a failing S/C. These superchargers are very sensitive, its not a very big problem but it can get expensive if you keep running it like that, that smoke will foul your cats which can be $800 a piece.

And yes the MCE does need a S/C for its low compression high expansion ratio. This is because the intake valves stay open during part of the compression stroke (which is what makes the MCE so special) There is also a version of the MCE without the S/C called the Atkinson Cycle engine which is still more efficient that the Otto Cycle engine but is not being used in the automotive industry that much.

I would respectfully submit that once you're sucking oil through the compressor, it's already expensive. And irreversible. Get a new compressor and go with a properly rebuilt PSE unit with upgraded seals.

For what it's worth milleniaman, it's not an economical car to own. I've had one for over four years and it's been a pretty sad experience. I fell in love with the look, the quiet refined power, and the ride...and have been paying for it pretty good. Now, I do have friends who have had much better luck. I don't know the history of mine but I got it at only 50,000 km so it seemed quite new. Also, if you live in a cold climate be prepared for the fuel mileage to drop drastically as temps approach 0 deg C.
