the hell ya'll talking about![]()
Eh, I don't mind buying a completely built motor. I have neither the know-how nor the means to properly balance and internally balanced motor anyway. And yes, you would need to do this even if just installing forged rods and pistons. I'd just rather spend the money to have it done right the first time. Manifolds, turbos, FMICs, etc I can do myself. BTW, I'm probably going to be going with one of Crossover Auto's built blocks and head.
well i do and thats why i am doing it my self. i know mostly everything that has to be done and have access to everything i need to do it with. Also i am doing it right the 1st time thats why im doing it my self. Thats great your going to get one of sam's motors good for you. im getting a machine shop to do my honing and balancing but as far as assembly that will be done by me and 2 other people.
Like I said, I don't mind paying $5k+ for a motor I know was built and balanced properly. Even with help from friends I wouldn't trust myself to do something like that. Plus, I want a brand new block (and will pay for it as well), oil pump, etc. A zero mileage motor with no problems will be very nice with my build considering I still have no idea how the previous owner of my car treated it. I'll just wait and save until I have the money to do everything right the first time.exactly do you have any idea how much money im going to save on the assembly of the shortblock? im going to pay about 1.5k for all bottom end parts and then maybe a couple hundred for the machining. so all in all ill pay about 2k to get my bottom end built vs paying 4k to have someone else do it for me o and thats not including shipping.
If that wasn't a problem I'd be right there with you.ok if thats the right way to do it for you then great. i myself do mind paying double for something i could do my self and come out just as good.
Are you going to be upgrading the head and the drivetrain as well?you can buy a motor for the p5 and ill build my own and at the end of the day they both will operate and function the same.
