1st speeding ticket, help

1. Always check the info on the ticket. If they spell your name wrong and you go to court, it is technically voided. One wrong number in your License #, address ect.

2. (some states) If the option to mail in a payment by check is available, simply send them a check for about $20 over what the fine is. They will mail you a check back for the difference. DONT cash the check they send back to you and it WILL NOT go on your record. (sounds crazy, but works) That is a reason why a lot of states make you pay the ticket on the spot, or dont allow you to mail the payment.

3. (last case) Show up on the court date on the ticket well dressed and get on your knees and start chuggin cock.

Ive had a lot of speeding tickets, gotten out of more than i should have. A lawyer doesnt hurt either.

Anyway, I've pretty much decided I will fight it, hoping to cut a plea bargain of some sort, and plea guilty to a lesser charge. It is the first moving violations I've ever had. I've had two other parking violations, I paid one, and I won the other.

I'm making this decision since the majority of you say to fight it, and only one person believes that pay it forget it is the best course of action. I'm also making this decision, because I'm under the impressions that the only thing worse that could happen is that I pay a higher fine, in exchange for lower points right?

If anyone else knows otherwise, please let me know.

You already got a bargain in my estimation. From 100 to 79, from possible jailtime to no jailtime...I think your pushing your luck trying to fight this one. Let a sleeping dog lie.

Good Luck.

You could always try to fight this, however, it may very well bite you in the ass. The cop will be there and will be a little more credible than you. Your best chance is to plea with the DA for lowered points although that is unlikely to happen. Seriously though...Good luck and I hope you learned your lesson.

some helpful advice...if you're gonna be late, be late. 100mph + is for the track. Trust me, it will help you live longer (lol)

Anyway that lateness ended up giving me an F on the presentation. No matter how I plead, the professor would not give me another chance. I lost hope in that class, and skipped, or was late numerous other times. So althought in the other 2 presentations, and 2 papers and final I got A's, I now have an F in that class due to one failed presentation, and numerous latenesses/absenses.

I'm going to appear in court in less than 8 hours. Preparing for court is a lot like preparing for a first date. Pick out clothes, rehearse lines, get your facial expressions down, and perform all personal hygene.

Wish me luck everyone. Or keep believing I deserve the worse.

I got my case dismissed. The cop said he was convinced that I sped without knowing it. The judge told me since my record was clean up until now, he could let me off.

damn, dude, you got off on that one! talk about best possible outcomes...

All I have to say is that driving is a priveledge (sp?) not a right. And for those who are going an excessive amount of miles over the speed limit and then complaining when they get caught are just being spoiled whiny brats. And I say brats because it seems for the most part they've only been legally driving less than 5 years and it's a late model car. (My first car was a '79 chevette and I graduated in '93!)

I've had only one speeding ticket and it was after driving for several hours. I wasn't wearing my seat belt but the cop didn't site me for that. I accepted the ticket and mailed off the payment. It's the grown up thing to do if you're in the wrong. Yeah some cops can be dicks but then some are just doing their job. Don't **** up and drive within responsible limits. You owe that to yourself and the safety of the people around you. And for the record I do drive over the speed limit but as a rule it's by 5 miles for the most part.
