Hello,
I'm thinking of getting a 1994 Mazda 626 (V-6) for my son who is off the University in the fall.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips I should consider before buying this vehicle.
Thanks for your help.
Anthony

Yes, yes i do. Try to find one with a manual transmission. I have a 2001 626 with an automatic transmission, it only has 76,xxx miles on it, and it's already giving me issues. I hear that the automatic transmission is a common issue with this car, so you might want to look into that. Otherwise, I say go for it. :D Aside from the transmission, I absolutely love my car. I don't know how much different the '94 and '01 models are (aside from the appearance), but I'm sure they are similar enough for me to say it's a good car.

also make sure you check the distributor, they have a notoriety for going bad. i can attest to the automatic transmission (mine died from me installing an intake). the only other issue i can think of right now is the HLAs tend to be noisy, which for the most part isn't really a problem, but it just sounds like the engine is knocking. there aren't really that many differences mechanically between the 94 and 01 626 (only thing i can think of right now is that the 01 has the thicker rear sway bar and is OBDII). i'm sure other people can chime in.

Well now, that is a good piece of info to have there. I was looking into getting an air intake for mine, but i think i'll pass on that one.....haha.

Oh yes, and the other thing i noticed with my car, it has idled rough ever since i bought it, dunno if that's because the previous owner was an old lady, or if it's a universal occurrence with these cars.
