18's or 17's

I'm either going to get a set of 17's or 18's for my gf's Pro 5, but she doesn't want to lower it cause it's brand new and all. What I wanted to ask you guys is: you think the car will look "lifted" with the 18"rims on because it's not lowered? Think 17's will look more proper?
Pls give me your thoughts?

18's + no drop = stilt walker

get some LIGHT weight 17's. She'll be much happier in the long run. I'm stressing LIGHT.

18's 18's 18's

18's my friend. 215/35R18's are only 2/10th's of an inch taller than stock size. I have a yellow mp5 I'm putting that size in a yellow B.F.G. Scorcher with 18 inch Konig Imagines.

I'd go with the 17's because the ride is a little easier and too large of rims can look stupid. I guess it all comes down to preference and whether you want to go over railroad tracks with the same caution as going over a speedbump with a fully lowered car.:(

What about with the 17's, will it still look like that?
Oh yeah, 5x114 right?

With 17s you'll have wheel gap. Just don't buy a 40 series tire. Get something that fills the the gap a little better, maybe a 45 or 50 series.

The car will be slower with 17s and even more so with 18s. If you're going for the bling factor, go with 18s.

Springs are only about $200 and not difficult to install (espically if you have air tools). With larger rims, you'll probably want to lower the car. It will look 10x better.

2 things
1. being in canada I doubt your roads are great, if their lik enew england tey blow ass, and more importantly to us they blow tires. the lower the profile on the tire the more likely you are to blow it out on a pot whole. I did this last yer with my MX-6. I also bent the rim.

2. How much money do you have to throw around to be able to buy your girl rims? Can I have some?

Aren't OZ's the ones they use on Le Mans series P900's and P650's they got a lot of spokes right

yeah...OZ is one of the few companies that are in all aspects of motorsports...from F1 to rally....speaking from experience OZ wheels are super strong...some may seem a little heavier but they definitely make up for it in strength...

getting back to the original question...i would go for 17s the ride is less harsh and perform the best....18s are cool too but are pretty much just for looks...plus with 17s your chances of denting your will are less...

I'd buy the mp3 rims off of someone that is upgrading to better rims. That way you get guaranteed perfect fit, good look, and cheap price. Plus since there's 1750 mp3's out there the rims/tires should be easy to replace as needed. I'm talking from a strictly practical point of view now.. plus I think that the mp3 stock rims are more than good enough.

Well, the deal I got going with my girl is that I buy the rims and she buys the tires. We really want the bling bling factor. Here in Winnipeg there are no Pro5's that are done up, and she want to be know as the chick with the 18's.

Anyways, the bolt pattern is 5x114 right?

What tire size should I use if I do get the 17's? Is it the same as the MP3's size.

And will the tires rub in the fender without the car being lowered? (on the 18's)

If you really want to go with 17's, go with a 205/40R17. It is a plus-1 fitment for the mp5. 18'S will not rub if you go wth a 215/35R18 because it is only 2/10th's of an inch taller overall, so it would only be 1/10th of an onch closer to the fender. You could even still lower it the same you would if it had 17's.

no matter what you have a heavier tire unless you go with some crazy expensive racing heart cp035s or something, so stick to 17"s everyone will be happy and the 18" difference is only cool when your car has airbags and can hop

Well, really don't care about the weight the rims. It's really just for the looks.

Anyone reget getting 17's instead of 18's?

Regardless of the rim size, it really won't look "finished" until you drop it. You don't have to slam the car. you can just drop it to sportline.

I forgot to mention. Yeah, I got 17's instead of 18's on my last car which was an Integra. One day I was in a parking lot next to a guy with the same rims. I kep wondering why his car was sooooooo much better looking than mine even though we had the same thing. Then I realized, his were an inch bigger! I kicked myself after that and vowed to go as big as I can on the P5 when I eventually buy rims for it, too! :)
