does anyone know it a 16 x8 or a 17x8 will fit on the p5 if we get the proper offset? is anyone running anything like this?

rx7 (fd) rims are 16 x 8 and have something like 48-55 offset i cant recall at this momment.

i would also like to know if they could possibly work. since you can get fd rims pretty cheap and they are pretty light i believe.

hMmm.. ive come to the conclusion that this car will never befast.. soim going to make it a handling beast.. first step is smaller wide rims and retweeking my whole suspension..
any more feedback onthis idea? if i found a rim with like a 52 mm offset do you think it would work?

so what do u guys think? stupid idea or no? i just want more contact space so i figured wider tire + wider rim.. any idea what tires i could run?

if i could go back i would do it in this order:

rims/ tires
springs/struts
swaybars/ linkage bars
strut/ chassis bars

im saving up for rims/ tires now, since i did springs/ struts already, then i will procede with my plan

phiz this is what i would do. since i dont know much knowledge you have in the autoX world, i would say start with some cheaper modds expose yourself to the scene, find out whats good and whats not. Maybe youll buy some rims first them find ooh these are better...(rims are mad cash for something that really wont make a HUGE diffrence) Put in a rear strut, and ladders and see what a diffrence just that makes... chris at spd is doing a awr swaybar and stuff sale, super cheap and those products are race proven.

FD rims wont fit. mazdamp3_18 tried to put them on his mp3 and it rubbed the strut.

i have no auto x knowledge.. i just want to make this thing handle like a slot car. -=P

Hey John, man are we on the same wavelength. I was going to go 18's and body mods. Now I am planning on going coilovers, all the lower and upper front and rear gt spec stuff, 21mm Rear sway bar and poly mounts, and a set of lightweight 17x7 or 8. Will be a long time before my car is faster so like you might as well make it handle like a slot car. That's how I went on my M3 and never regreted it but I did the whole 18" semi sport suspension on my corrado and was constantly rethinking it. BTW I bent rims all the time and they were kinesis so don't feel bad I eventually sold them for a huge loss and went with 16x8 Speedlines. Never looked back. Just remember seeing some of your posts about your 18s.

yeah. my 18z. are pretty hurt.. 2 bad bends. -=\ i just dont wanna **** with em no more.. slot car time.. drive drive drive. -=P
