First off...hello I am Andrew, and I am new here. I recently traded an Audi A4 for a 2008 Speed3 (Grey). I was curious about using 0W-30 oil on my next oil change since the manual doesn't mention it. I was hoping that you fine folks had some experience with it and if so have you noticed better fuel economy? Thank you in advance for your help.

It doesn't get cold enough in North Carolina to warrant it, but it should be OK. I suspect it would never get cold enough to go to 0W.

Well, the Audi actually reccomended 0w-30 but said 5w-30 would do, and it seemed to help w/ mpg's. Also, I noticed on the 0W-30 oil container it says something like "full warranty protection for 5w-30 and 10w-30 specifications" so it shouldn't hurt anything I wouldn't think...Hey MikeH, I'm liking the white, I couldn't find one so I settled for the graphite color. Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks, CWP is what finally made me go for it. The dealer actually had two in stock that day. I was thinking I might settle for CB. Glad I didn't wait. The newer ones have that stupid smile.

As for the oil, it just means it'll be thinner on cold start up, but like I said - it won't get cold enough to warrant the change.

guys are seeping oil past the seals in the turbo with oils of the factory recommended viscosicty, and you sir want to go "lighter". ballsy move i must say since most guys go heavier if anything. keep us posted on it goes and how many miles you go untill your a' knocking

Since the oil is only lighter for a short time, I suspect that would not be a serious issue.

The whole "people are using thicker oil because of seepage" is why I posted in the first place, to get some info because I am new to the car and the forum. I was asking for info in order to be able to make an informed decision. I am not starting an argument, merely asking a question. Thank you all for posting.
