MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

Thanks for the feedback, batou79. I appreciate it. I looked at CobbAP website and noticed something interesting. Going from Stage1 stock to Stage1+SF on 93 only adds 5hp and 4ft.lb. of torque. Perhaps the turbo spooling would improve with SF but I think TMIC and new BPV are much more...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

Question for everyone: Is CAI worth the effort? (SRI is definitely out of question). So, I have put my car back together to stock a while back and visited the dealership for 30K checkup. Then I decided to start putting things back together one at a time and experience every change. Keep in...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

This is great! I think I will try this out. By the way, I have just discovered that some racers are using high flow foam air conditioner filter to cover up problem areas. It passes air through flawlessly but keeps water and dirt out. I assume I can pick it up at any hardware store. I am...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

I have been monitoring intake temperature with my Dashdaq while running SRI instead of my CPE CAI. Temps are at least 30F higher with the SRI, when you are moving along on the highway. It gets as much as 100F higher when you are stuck in traffic. Personally, I think the CAI is a better way to...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

Here is a question for you guys. I am looking at my Unichip setup and getting a little anxious to put it back in. I am concerned how it will like my Cobb SRI. The map I have in the unit is for CPE CAI. It would seem fine theoretically but theoretical knowledge by itself is a little...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

I figured out the Idle surge issue I was having. You won't believe it guys. It was a turbulence inside the engine compartment effecting MAF readings. SRI has a MAF pretty close to the filter. When I went from CAI to SRI I did not reinstall any of the original parts in the wheel well. I...

MSCAI as SRI = LTFT better

I have been running this SRI and so far so good. No CELs. One of the guys has mentioned in earlier post that since MAF is so close to the filter there might be some air turbulence that can cause misreads. I have seen that on my setup before. I had a CAI on before I went to SRI. I would say...

Nice setup. I did like my CAI a little better than SRI, whenever the filter was dry :-) You are lucky to have Cali weather on your side.

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

I am near Detroit, about one hour West of it. Cobb SRI fixes that problem for good. But I am thinking about the large whole that's left on the driver's side where the mounting bracket for stock box use to be. If the CAI filter had all that stuff on it, some of the same stuff will probably end...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

I had the hydroshield on it. Michigan is pretty rough in winter, so even this did not help. When I took off the filter a couple of weeks ago and pulled off the hydroshield, the whole side of the filter was soaked. I wonder if that somehow contributed to my idle issue in the end. I am...

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

thanks for the suggestion. I think I will have to try the stock air box. I did not have the idle situation happening when I had my CPE CAI on the car though. So, Cobb tune does make a big difference then?

MS6 upgrades - Tried a few, wanted to share

I enjoy reading the forum. Everyone here is great and very knowledgeable. Thanks for all good info. Ive always wanted to contribute, so here is my experience with a few upgrades I tried out on my MS6 and where I ended up in the end. Here is the list: CPE CAI, ETS TMIC, Unichip, Denso ITV22...
