    Piston Ring Replacement.

Ok, so it is the VTCS. Like I said earlier, I couldn't remember which our cars had. Thanks for the link!

    Piston Ring Replacement.

That's quite possibly the best advice I've ever received. And honestly, I'd probably do it that way if it weren't for the fact that I have to remove the head to get to the VICS. That rattle is annoying the F*** out of me.

    Piston Ring Replacement.

Yes, it smokes BADDD on cold startups and when I really stomp on it (between 4.5k and 5.5K RPMs). I'll also be removing the VICS (or VTCS, I forget which of the two our engines has) while I've got it all out and apart.

    Piston Ring Replacement.

Well, the reason I pinned it as a piston ring leak is because after scouring the internet for a day and a half, that seems like it's a pretty common problem with our cars. Also, when the car was in the shop for something completely unrelated that mechanic told me about how Mazda had this same...

    Piston Ring Replacement.

Hey guys, I haven't been on here in quite a while (probably about 6 months) but I was wondering if any of you had some information. Ever since I got my car, it's had an oil leak. It started out with just black specks on the back of my car and my having to add about a quart in between each fill...

    alt belt broke, need advice

The belts on our cars are simple to replace. Where do the wires lead to? More information on the wires are the only way we can help you. I'm not 100% on this, but I think there's an article in the hot to section on replacing our belts.

    HID Question

Honestly, I got both my kits off Ebay. My low beams are slimline and my high beams aren't. I've had problems with neither of them and I have them ziptied to the inside of the bumper.

    HID Question

What kit are you using? A link the the site or ebay item would help out a lot. But chances are, you just got a crappy kit.

What have you done to your P5 today?

I just replaced the rear brake calipers with MSP ones, painted all four of them red, painted my valve cover red, installed high and low beam 10,000K HIDs, replaced my headlight housings, did a tranny/oil change and drove her to Tuscaloosa. It's been a productive weekend. And I love my Mazda! :D

    Short shift boot.

Hey guys, I'm gonna be installing a short shifter soon. My question is, can I just cut my stock shift boot, or are replacement boots fairly cheap? If they are, can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can find a good quality one and possibly a better shift know than the stock one?

    Does this look legit?

I just figured that I'd replace the gears when I replace the cams. And if I get adjustables, won't that give me a bit of wiggle room if I ever feel adventurous enough to mess with my timing?

    Does this look legit?

I was looking for cams/adjustable gears package and came across this. This site seems kinda....scammy. What do you guys think? http://www.srmotorsports.com/Mazda_Protege_Performance_Engine_Parts.html

    Verified seller thread.

Alright guys, after reading a "certain" article in the marketplace. I think it's about time that we have a verified buyer/seller list on here. I'm not sure if this is the place for it or if we even have one. But what I'm suggesting is that the mods gather a list of the active forum members and...

Well, I guess I better start saving then, huh? :P Thanks for the info to you too. Like I said, I'm really new to everything that isn't electronics related and i'm having some difficulty with the learning curve.

    WTB: Coilovers.

What's a good set? I honestly don't know s*** about suspension. I'm the electronics guy. I lost my mechanic friend when I moved so I have no one to help me out.

    WTB: Coilovers.

I know, I'm just a cheap bastard. I was hoping for some used ones so I could get them a bit cheaper. But I may just bite the bullet and get some new ones so I won't have too many problems.
