    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

In the JX commercial on TV, I swear the car seat is not installed properly. I'm certain I see it move in the seat. My installation, that's not happening. But that scene goes by quick. And it's way too much for our money. And as for the CVT. My Freestlye has one. I love it, BUT, it is very...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

55V8 - That's brilliant! Definitely going to look into that. As an update, we got our Freestyle fixed. But it's a salvage yard transmission and frankly, my wife just doesn't trust it. Still looking at CX-9's and Flex's (would that be Flexes?) Just trying to find the right one at the right...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

Thanks for the advice and tips here. Definitely taking note. Going to have the Freestyle paid off and offered as a trade in. Kind of torn though as it has transmission issues. Gotta figure out what it's worth like it is. Maybe they won't test drive it. Ha! Figuring on having a set price...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

Okay. We couldn't help it. Went to the dealership with the family and checked out the CX-9. What an awesome vehicle. The Highlander doesn't even compare as far as I'm concerned. I'm preaching to the choir here, but wow. It's tight, taut, an absolute blast to drive. And, yes, we did the...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

helbigtw That was exactly the response I was looking for. If the Freestyle was working properly or cheaper to fix, I'd drive it till the wheels fell off. Unfortunately, we are not in the financial position to check out the Infiniti and the Pathfinder is still too far off. Gotta get rid of...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

Wow. Thanks for the quick replies. RoadKing01 I think we are going to just test it out at a dealer. The captain chairs aren't a must if the third row is easily accessible. We've just been spoiled with them. I didn't realize the CX-9 was wide enough to fit two in seats and one in the...

    Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

Hey all, Background: We currently own a 2005 Ford Freestyle (that we love), but its CVT transmission is going and will cost $2K plus to fix. I think we're going to get rid of that and get something a few years younger. We have three kids, two of whom are still in car seats. Three rows is a...

    Clutch going out?

I just replaced mine. It was hooking up at the very top of the pedal travel. Then the car would jerk slightly. Looked like I didn't know how to drive a clutch. Replaced the clutch and turned the flywheel and it's like new.

Speedometer no good after clutch replace

Heck. We may still just hook it up. My neighbor had a snap on scan pro and i guess it can't hurt. If I were to check the voltage, would I check it at the end that comes out of the transmission or the end on the top side of the engine?

Speedometer no good after clutch replace

Thanks for the quick replies. No CEL light as of yet. It was on b/c of my cat, but it hasn't turned back on yet. The light does work though, as it comes on when I start the car. As for the sensor, it looks fine. I may go by a junk yard and get the sensor and the wire. But it all appears...

Speedometer no good after clutch replace

Hey all. I've got a 2000 Protege with the 1.6. Hope this is the best place to post this issue. The car's been great too me. Just this weekend, my neighbor and I changed out the clutch, CV axles, struts, rotors and calipers. When we put my clutch back in though, everything worked great...
