    2.3L manumatic transmission issues

Chill out dude. Those issues have been beaten to death already, especially the brake stuff... On the auto tranny, mine jerks a bit as well on 1-2 when cold (worse in winter), fine after a couple of shifts. Just take it easy on the gas or release the gas right b/f it goes from 1st to 2nd. Will...

    Nervous !!! (NEWBIE)

It's cool though. If you are female and you know enough about cars to buy a 3, then much props to ya. There are so many girls (and guys) that drive civics out here. All I can say is, boooooring!

    How are the manumatic shifts?

Tried it out extensively today... The tranny does jerk a bit when you come to a stop from a higher gear (somewhat disconcerting, thought it only does it when it was cold). Seems better if you downshift back to 1st before the car does it for you. Pickup does improve somewhat, since you can hold...

Pics of Mazda 3 as requeted

Nice. Not bad with the hood deflector...... Happen to know who makes the deflector? Who's your dealer? Maybe it's a starting point to look for one for the hatchback.

    2004 Mazda 3? Or wait for 2005?

The only thing I can think of, in the next year or two, is that they can sqeeze another 20 hp or so out of the 2.3L... Case in point about 1st year cars: Had a '95 Maxima (1st year of new model), 100K miles. Only regular maintenance, and maybe an oxygen sensor or something.

    Mazda 3 5 Door and Snow ?????

Was a little concerned at first. Yeah, those 17s look cool when it's nice out, but how will they do in the winter? Haven't had any spin-outs or anything, and tires gripped alright initially in the snow. I'm familiar w/ the Eagle RS-As, since I had them in my previous car. Not a great tire...

    Chicks dig the Mazda3?

Read in the thread from FACTagent about some guy picking up two women with his car on the Edmunds board. Dunno about all of that but....... On a couple of occasions, I was at a traffic light and some girls pulled up and were totally staring at the ride, all laughing and smiling...

Now its Lava Orange vs Strato Blue

Lava Orange would be my second choice. Strato Blue is nice too (test drove one), but doesn't stand out as much (if that's what you want).

hatch or no hatch..that is the question

The hatch is more practical, unless you have a truck or SUV already. Think the 5 door has a more aggressive stance also.

    Gas mileage?

Just filled up today... 27.9 mpg on mostly highway. Automatic w/ ~2500 miles. Tried to keep it under 65 MPH though. Better than when it was brand new, though got about 32 mpg on a trip out of town.

    Manumatic question

1 - This is what's in the owner's manual (as a note under manually shifting up): "When depressing the accelerator fully, the transaxle will shift to a lower gear, depending on vehicle speed." 2 - When you hit the Resume button, the computer probably overrides the Manual mode, downshifts to...

Has anyone look into a hood deflector for the 3? Does anyone make one yet?

    Clear Bras and paint durability

Soliciting opinions on the paint jobs on Mazda vehicles. Brought this up because my parents used to own an old Protg (’91). The paint chipped very badly. Wondered how recent Mazdas have fared in this department… Also, anyone thought about putting a Clear Bra for their cars? It’s supposed to...

    Automatic Transmission

Just wondering if anyone has experienced hard shifts (between 1st and 2nd) during the cold weather. The problem does seem to go away after the car is warmed up. Perhaps it's just way too cold, but if that's the case the car takes an awful long time to warm up then (>10 minutes). Alternative...
