    Front brake pads replacement

Hmm - I've used HPS's on my race car (BMW) for the rain - they don't eat the rotors when cold like the Hawk Blues I used. So when I was headed up to Lime Rock for a track day in my new MS3, I decided they'd be a good compromise for street/track. So, maybe I've got my head up my butt, but the...

MS3 Track advice: Brakes and tire pressures

All - Am headed up to Lime Rock Park next week to run a NASA HPDE event in my 2008 MS3. Questions: 1) Have just put new Toyo R1R's (225/40) on it. What hot pressures should I aim at? I saw an article in Grassroots comparing R1R's with RE01's and they were using really low pressures - like...

Autocross tire pressure for stock tires?

Just FYI - did the autocross with 40/36 after driving to event. They gained 1 lb after a run, to 41/37. No edge rollover, no excessive understeer. I'd recommend these pressures for pretty much any street tire. Joe

    AutoX Tire Pressure?

Repeating another post I just did, but I just autocrossed my stock MS3 with OEM Bridgestones, etc. I used 42/37 and it worked fine - no rollover, and no excessive understeer even on some pretty sharp and long corners. Turn the traction and stability both off. Joe p.s. car was great - driver...

Autocross: Stock tires vs. *real* street tires

Ran that autox yesterday - car handled really well - massive understeer only when I left the traction control and stability control ON. Once off, it handled well, the OEM Bridgestones were at 41/37 (f/r). That seemed odd to me, but maybe it was just the way I was driving it. In speaking with...

Autocross tire pressure for stock tires?

I wouldn't argue that more pressure might have been better, but at 41/37, the car did well - no excessive plowing, etc. Oddly, when I had the traction control and the stability control ON, it DID understeer pretty badly. I turned them off for remaining runs, and the car was excellent. Only...

Autocross: Stock tires vs. *real* street tires

Pressure for stock tires in autox I'll be headed out to my first autox in my MS3 with Bridgestone Potenza RE015As tomorrow, and I figured I'd set them to 42/38 (f/r) BEFORE I drive to the autox. Then I'll check the pressure gain from the drive, and shoot for 45/40 or so hot after a run. I've...

Autocross tire pressure for stock tires?

Funny - that just occurred to me. Doh! Mazdaspeed3, Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, worn to the wear bar indicators, so I figure this is the end for them! thanks, Joe

Autocross tire pressure for stock tires?

I'm headed out to my first autox tomorrow. I'll be driving up on the OEM tires and will use them (probably use them up!) in the autocross. Any suggestions about what pressure to set them to? Should I set them cold before I leave? They will gain probably 4 lbs just driving up there. What...

    Front camber for autox?

Slap me if this has been covered already - searched and couldn't find. I want to autocross my MS3 using R-compound tires, specifically, Hoosier A6's. My experience with Hoosier R6's is that they want a LOT of negative camber. But, this was with a RWD car. This is my first FWD car. Is...

What tires/wheels fit under unrolled fenders?

Just bought an '08 Mazdaspeed3, and will be autocrossing it. Would like to put Hoosier A6s on it. Seems reasonable to consider 17" wheels in his case for less unsprung weight (and more weight left in wallet for that matter). Anyone have a good idea of what size tires will fit under stock...
