Yeah that same thing happened to me on a long trip to Iowa. I had around 7-8k miles on the mazdas odometer. Still almost new. I had already gone 600 miles and had about 200 to go till I reached my destination and suddenly It made that same plastic like grinding noise with (how can I explain it?)...
