Anyone else have their wheel bearings replaced?

Turns out we need a rear bearing AND have a warped rim. (notcool) $529 + $150 to fix both.

    Toyo S/T II's at 255-50-20

After over a year with these tires, I would have to say that they are very good on dry roads and decent in bad weather. That being said, this week I had to replace the two backs as they were almost bald. (I should disclose that I think I have a bearing issue on the right side, but this is...

Anyone else have their wheel bearings replaced?

I think I am having the same issue. About a month ago I started to notice a vibration and very loud road noise, especially while turning left, and it's gotten progressively worse. I thought it was a warped rim and even had my back tires replaced (which were shot, likely due to this issue), but...

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

Just wanted to give an update... After driving in several storms over the past few weeks, I can't believe the difference! The vehicle is a lot LOUDER on the road (tire noise), but it now pulls through even deep snow with ease. Curiously though, stopping appears to be slightly diminished (?)...

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

That price included labor. I was pretty upset because I'm fairly sure this problem has been in place all along since owning the car and should have been covered by Mazda's standard warranty. But my local dealer wouldn't budge on it and I found that "Corporate" is a losing battle as well. The...

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

UPDATE: I found out we have basically had a 2WD car all along (1WD in snow!). $2300 for the transfer case. ugh Picking it up later today and can't wait for it to snow now. I sure wish I had discovered this while it was under warranty though...*sigh* BlazeZ - Let me know how the Pirelli's...

How the AWD works in the CX-9

I have this exact problem. Can you (or anyone) tell me approximately how much it will cost to have the transfer case fixed? I am unfortunately out of warranty. :(

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

Thanks again. I have the car scheduled to go to the dealer on Friday. I also wanted to give another report on the Toyos and say that with lots more snowy/icy/slushy driving conditions recently our tires have performed quite well. The problem we have seems to be isolated to the AWD system.

Thanks again SportOwner. I love Sears and Craftsman. ;)

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

Thanks for the research SportOwner. Do you really think that there's a significant difference between the Yoko Parada Spec X's and the Toyo Proxes II's? Both are V rated all-season tires built for moderately bad weather and performance. I would definitely say that my Toyo's are better in all...

    Blizzak availability

I am also considering the Blizzak DM-V1's over the LM25 or 60. Can anyone give a reason why the more expensive tires are better? I want the best SNOW/ICE tire since I plan to use two sets. Also, where does one acquire a good torque wrench? I'm assuming all you need to do is swap out your HP...

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

Ok, I am back with an updated take on Toyo Proxes S/T tires. I have had these tires for close to a year now and I LOVE the way they handle on wet and dry roads. I also was very impressed with the way they initially handled in moderately bad weather/driving conditions. Well, we just...

    New CX-9 Grand Touring/Tire Concerns

Here's another report on the Toyo Proxes ST II's ... Last week we had a couple significant snowfalls and I got a chance to tool around with the new tires some, as I have been all winter. I was killing some time waiting for the bus with my kids and a neighbor friend and decided to have some...

Warning: Do Not over torque wheel lugs!

Yikes! I had no idea this was so important. I have always done it the way my father showed me -- hand tighten, drop the car and then step on the tire iron and give it a couple kicks after you hear the screech. I wonder what torque that would register. ;) After my first tire debacle (slid...

3 finalists to replace the Duellers

We're off topic now, but I have to agree that not enough car companies are pioneers in this area. The thing that sealed the deal with the CX9 for me was the seven passenger seating with a real third row; that and the performance and handling. The closest cars I could find to compete were the...

My CX-9 AWD Tried to Do Me In

If you read the threads on this forum, you'll find that the Bridgestone Dueler HPs ABSOLUTELY SUCK in the snow by all accounts. I'm sorry you had to learn it the hard way, but it sounds like you came out ok, thank God. The two main solutions are based on geography: 1 - If you live in a...

3 finalists to replace the Duellers

Agreed, but this one looks interesting (Would like to see a seven seater though)... http://www.toyota.com/sem/venza.html?cid=Google_toyota%20cuv

3 finalists to replace the Duellers

And I echo that sentiment for the Toyo Proxes S/T II's as well. It's all based on where you live, and in my case that's the south seacoast of MA. I keep looking for a good storm to test these new tires in deep snow and then it dawned on me that this is exactly why I don't need a separate set...

3 finalists to replace the Duellers

I was going to mention the "T" rating, and that swayed me too, but I was also concerned about the performance in warm weather and I'm not so sure how that particular tire stacks up against the Toyo and Pirelli in that regard. The Toyo's do feel much firmer than the Duelers. That's for sure...

3 finalists to replace the Duellers

If that's the case then I would say the decision should be between any one of the three the OP mentioned or spending a bit more for better performance/traction in the Michelin. The reviews on that tire are excellent, and I plan to opt for it next time if the Toyos don't wear well or are a...
