    Got my new car

<<i thought for a moment you had bought a BMW M3 when I clicked on it...>> I've been in the automotive industry long enough to know the difference; I'm sorry I confused you. On the other hand, given that this is a Mazda forum, I can understand why you'd think a post would be about a BMW M3...

Mazda missed some small details on the 3

It's obvious that Mazda has chosen to offer obvious and unique content in this segment (like the S/W audio controls, 17" wheels and foglights, all standard on my 5dr.) and deleted a few things to help recoup some of this high end content. I'll give up an additional power point for this content...

    mazda 3 date in america?

On the ground in Farmington Hill, MI Bill Cook in FH, Michigan has three, as of yesterday (11/20/03), one of each (an "i" 2.0L 4dr., an "s" 2.3L 4dr. and a 5dr.); my salesperson called to tell me so I could see what, he says, will be delivered to me by 12/6 (current schedule)... I couldn't...

The GT seems a little expensive vs GX

Thanks for the correct spelling... That Fiero looks great. One question, though... and I think this is relevant: How much time did you personally spend doing all of the work yourself and did you account for that in your total cost? If you'd had somebody else do all of that work, how much would...

The GT seems a little expensive vs GX

First of all, since when was the 88 Fiero available with a Supercharged 3800? (No need to answer; that was a rhetorical question. There was NO S/C 3800 available, even as an extra cost option. In order to have one, you had to spend buku dollars modifying the car, and not just the drivetrain. So...

    Spotted: Mazda 3

I think Mazda Canada is in that general area. Might've been a pre-production M3 in the hands of a distributor employee. Or a journalist (they're in the hands of journalists, now that pricing and specs have been released). ...[B]FYI, definitions from closest to production to furthest from...

    Mazda 3 Reliability...After all it's just a Ford

Unfortunately, Flat Rock products never met the challenge of other transplant factories here in the U.S. (products never did particularly well in Quality surveys compared to Toyota, Honda plants). However, having said that, I think the second generation product out of Flat Rock was much better...

    Mazda 3 Reliability...After all it's just a Ford

I think that your fears, neomonkey, are legitimate but unfounded. I don't recall hearing significant problems with the Mazda6, despite it being built in a UAW plant owned by Ford (Flat Rock). And, as for Mazda3, don't mistake the fact that it is the basis for the next Focus and S40 as meaning...

    Mazda 3 Reliability...After all it's just a Ford

It's not just manufacturing, either, doggone, is it? In fact, as an engineer in the industry, you must be wondering how long before your job gets moved to India or China, I bet. No, the fact is that domestic brands have alot to learn about quality, not the least of which because they still...

Styling of the Mazda 3 hatch...

Uh,... in a word, NO... These weren't done by the same designers or engineers. They're completely different vehicles as far as platform or architecture (FR vs. FF, Transverse I4 vs. Longitudinal I6, etc.)... nothing in common in fact or concept (other than they're both "sport wagons" with...

does anybody care about the sedan?

One thing that the sedan will definitely benefit from (just as with the current Protege) is the racing effort in World Challenge... where the new 2.3L engine will prove to be a bonanza, with more displacement and variable valve timing... the sedans tend to be the pick for racing because of their...

    AutoWeek Review of the Mazda3

Right on... the P5 was a bold move on Mazda's part, especially given the fact that the Protege' had basically been a bit player in this market. Despite the fact that it was one of the best sellers in Mazda's line-up here, it didn't really have much of a distinctive position in the marketplace...

    Where's my roof rack??

Rola Racks (Australia) One other option for me, regarding roof racks, would be an Australian rack, Rola... I had some on a 1989 Mercury Tracer Wagon (that'll tell you that I'm just this side of Methuselah) which I "turned into" a left-hand drive replica of an Australian Ford Meteor estate, with...

    Where's my roof rack??

No hard delivery date, yet... I'm waiting on tracking information. I know production is scheduled for November (so, it's not one of the first cars, but that's fine with me, since my current lease is not up yet.)... The dealership I'm using is Bill Cook Imports... I'm wondering if M3 has the...

    Where's my roof rack??

Good question... I was just planning to buy the right Q-clips for my Yakima system, regardless of whether I'd gotten a P5 or the M3. But, now that you mention it, I don't even know if it has the roof rail attachment points. I'll check and get back.

Oooh, they look good in person

Oooh, they look good in person

published figures for the 2.0L =148hp and the 2.3L =160hp I wasn't to correct on the 2.3L, so much as I was trying to underline the link between the 2.0L and the 2.3L.

Oooh, they look good in person

The 2.0L hasn't been offered here yet (it's not the engine in the Protege'). The 2.3L is already in the 6... Some press release material on the engine family... "The newly developed engines are all aluminum, in-line 4-cylinder gasoline engines, with 1.8-liter, 2.0-liter, and 2.3-liter engine...
