I get the whistling also now. I have a 2003 protege 5 with autostick and get the whistling ever so slightly in regular drive but when I have the tip-tronic set in it whistles at high RPM,s.... any ideas guys?

I didnt do the work myself I had my dads friend do it while I was at work but my guess was that it was the alt belt. I will have him look at it thanks.

Hello, I just got a protege 5 and had to replace the alternator. Got the car back today and while driving it the car squeals somewhere in the front end from time to time and also when I hit 50 MPH. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
