They look completely different to me, as well. Although I don't have this random hatred that seems to be prevalent here against american cars. Not to mention "import" infers that it was... imported. The 3/Protege is not.

Based on everything I've read, the Mazda3 comes out at the very latest in the first quarter of 2004, probably more like the end of 2003. I've seen no estimates later than that. But as people have been saying, Frankfurt will provide answers! (Too bad we're too impatient for that :)
