just for the heck of it, try looking at your driving style. i normally get better than 27mpg, but if i back out of the throttle (i hate doing 60!) on the hwy, that'll jump to over 31. if i'm doing lots of stop&go, it'll drop to under 26mpg.
Just a thought...
I had the same problem with my '02 P5; after 5 trips into the dealership, they finally replaced the EGR valve.
Problem gone.
Then I got rid of it (the car AND the dealership).
Good luck.
there's one other little thing that could make a difference...
the fit of the socket onto the prongs of the bulb has to be tight. i fried two sets of sockets before we (the dealer's parts guy and I) finally figured out that little bit. if they're not tight, there's a little arcing that starts as...
buy it an AB and you'll get stiffed for the pst when you register it back at home. you've got to have it out-of-province for at least six months (maybe a year?) before you can get away with it.
i managed to get out of the grasp of icbc!(yippy) but i had to move to onterrible to do it(sad2)
osram (sylvania) cool blues!
all the other cheapies i've tried either blow waayyy to fast, or they melt the plug adapter.
'sides that, my dealership warrantys them for a year - and they're only $50 cdn for a pair.
there's something weird with smoke pouring out of the vents at highway speed. i pulled over too.
now it's just part of the summer for me.
damn all you guys that get to use the a/c all year long... I CAN'T STAND THE SNOW (but i can't afford to move all my family to socal :-(
hey bombshell...
you must be the only P5 driver in the GTA that's under 40! everyone i see in a P5 is well into gray hair.
to answer the post:
42; married; 2 kids (1 of each)
first P5 was good for about 67k (that's Kms) and rather than go with new brakes and tires, it was almost as cheap to...
Pricing on my 2002 ( in July '01) was msrp.
I've managed to negotiate a little better deal on my new '03, but the real price movement seems to be in the additional crap - alarms, coatings, etc...
As for winter: bring it on! City, highway, and back road. Just don't try it on the stock Dunlops...
H7 is correct for the driving lights. Once you remove the bulb from the car, you need to take the (black) adapter off the old bulb and put it on the new one before putting it back in.
A word of caution (based on personal experience)... Make sure the contact inside the adapter (to your new...
I've had my P5, with the 8028, for almost 2 years and haven't used the stock remote since the day after I rolled her out of the dealership.
I can e-mial you the wiring schema.
Has anyone tried Aquapel (from PPG)? I understand that it's only available from glass/detailing shops - it's not consumer available. The guy that did my tint swears by it.
Talk to Greg at Ajax Mazda. For an extra 1,000 you could be driving the 'Speed that's sitting in their showroom!
I ordered my new P5 today (':D')(Silver, a/c and roof - this time it'a a stick) and he's been great to deal with!
mtnbiker26,
thanks for the link.
i'm stuck with the "canadian set-up" (no rack at all) and was thinking of going for a U.S. set-up.
NOT any more! I'll just go with a Thule kit.
after just over 64000Km (that's about 40000 miles) I've averaged 29.97 mpg.
best tank mileage - 38.67
most fun tank - 25.05
did I mention that that's for an imperial gallon?
works out to 32.21 and 20.86 per US gallon.
Interested? Yes.
This week? No.
I'm trying to work a trade with my dealer for a new '03... then we re-do the tint and look at the rack.
What're they worth to you?
