Maybe a change in title for this thread is in order.....

My guess is that the pastic splash guard is the same one used in the regular 3 and the hole is for that engine and they just decided it wasnt worth it to create a new part and forms for the MZ3 engine and figured MZ3 can just remove the splash guard... at least that makes me feel much better...

You can do the "rear end slide" - take that for a fact :-)

Changed my front brake pads and painted the calipers black - it now looks cool but I have no brakes - think I liked the looks plain but have brakes better (got to bleed the lines still as I got air in them somehow)

Thanks everyone - seems like we all agree its air.. Ill bleed the lines today - wont get drastic on the flush just yet as Im planning on adding braided lines and will do so at that time but if simple bleed doesnt do it that may be the next step

Ok so I changed the pads today on both fronts and noticed that the brakes felt somewhat mushy... during the bed-in process I had one run where pedal hit the floor and brakes didnt respond....that put an end to the bed-in process Obviously this sounds like air in the brake line and I will bleed...

Thank you! This saved me 100 bucks! Well this and the fact my neighbor has all the right tools and likes working on cars - we had to fight for who was going to do the dirty work!! Nice to have an online reference and neighbor with every tool in the book..... brake pads are next!

I suspect Im bringing really old news and if so my apologies but latest Motor trend had a nice article on the new 3 and the differences between it and the outgoing 3 model. Towards the end they indicated the hatchback and mazdaspeed 3 versions of the car are expected this coming summer.
