I've had the recall done and it doesn't feel any different to me. I noticed the black soot gone after a previous service....so maybe there was an update that changed the 'richness'.

I would agree with singlemalt about the financial thing. I'm sure CA is expensive all around. I put a nice down payment on my cars so I wouldn't be upside down. I would hate to have to pay the balance if my car was totaled (or stolen) and insurance didn't cover it all. That said, I can't answer...
