Yea, I'm working on it when I have time. There is a binary reverse assembler (written a few years ago) I have been adding enhancements too. Having multiple binaries (for the same engine), tuned for different applications, will make the job much easier. rj

Ok, where was your measuring point? I'm assuming you saw the proper voltages of <1.0V in one position, and B+ in the other position with the switch attached on the tranny?

Do you actually have the breakout box? If you don't, what was your process for testing the switch operation? Also, if you have a pc controllable obdii reader, does your software interface have any status variables for that switch? rj

They all will have some type conformal coating which has to be cleaned off the J3 port pads. I have seen two types. One was a white paste, which wiped off easily with some rubbing alcohol. The other type was a thick, clear silicone type coating which can be scraped off with a razor.

It should be EEC-V. Mazda has used the Ford EEC-V since 96. I believe they used it through 2003. rj

It is definitely going to be more difficult with a custom ECU. It will require a lot of tuning as well. Also, a lot of the sensors may not be compatible with the stock mazda parts. For the stand alone ECU's from Haltech, you shouldn't need the Voltage Clamps. Those are for preventing fuel...

i have a 97 626 transformed from 2.0L automatic to the distributorless 98 2.0L and manual transmission. i recommend never doing this! buy a new car, engine transmission dropped right in but the wiring was a nightmare and i'm an electrical engineer. rj

Also, the same goes with any of the other eec flash programs, ie. the mp3 flash. Once I have the binary extracted from a willing donor (with the mp3 eec), i can program that flash binary to f3's for other protege eec's. rj
