i read somewhere that it could be a wastegate actuator. how would i know?

i just bought this 03 Mazdaspeed protege. I always wanted one and now that i have i don't know what to do with it. I don't even know what the engine code is. It has an Injen intake and greddy exhaust. what next... does it have an external waste gate? What's the factory set boost at? If someone...

if it's saving itself why does it just pause and regain power? i don't even let off the gas and it just continues where it left off (power wise).

so what fixes the prob.?

... so i'm at a light, it turns green. i take off mildly fast and i get to about 4500 rpm and my power drops off like my gas just cut out. what could be the prob... maybe the ecu isn't mapping the fuel right???? i have no clue... a lil help please? .... oh did i mention i just bought the mazda...
