    ND MX-5: Jeff's 2016 ST GT Build

Yeah, what else do you have to do?

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Your lips to God's ears my friend. Had no luck in getting any tuning in due to weather. Did run to the store and she was running with a high idle, when I stepped on it I heard that lovely hissing sound denoting a boost leak. Checked when I got home to find it was my problem child location...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Ostensibly four months, but things with my relief's future are in the air at the moment. Also, rumor I have heard is the guy who was my relief a few years back (and who screwed me over causing me to do seven months) may be coming back to relieve me. We will see what happens. I posted some...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Thanks man. Unfortunately I'm down to about three weeks before I have to go back and earn more money.

    ND MX-5: Jeff's 2016 ST GT Build

I've been wondering what happened to everyone. More visibility is better with these cars on today's roads, as we all know. ;)

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

I see I didn’t mention how much I was away from home for work last year into this year (to the tune of only having a total of one and a half months home over a 14 month period), but it was a lot. That is by way of my excuse for the next confession, because my brain was fried. I had noticed there...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Had the time yesterday so put the front up in the air and pulled the front bumper. That gave access to the air guide, seen here: It is held in place by six fasteners, four on the front and the remaining two to the sides (which also hold the undertray and fog light bracket braces). New one...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Went in to get the A/C charged. While on the way I heard a boost leak. Got the A/C work done, there was no leakage indicated after the system was evacuated, made me happy my fittings were tight. Talked to the guy who did the work, he has an older Mistu Evo. As we were talking about boost leaks...

2016 CX-5 1st HUGE issue, stuck on highway - Need Help

Very same thing happened to my wife a while ago. I forgot to take my scan tool with me, but disconnecting the battery, letting the car system discharge and reconnecting the battery let it start and run normally. Trailered it home and checked it by disconnecting the coil wires one by one until I...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Idle adjusted. It’s a little high now, I’m going to remove the intake tube coming from the air filter so I can better access the idle screw. Going to also shorten the throttle cable then to get the slack closer to where it should be. The boost gauge wasn’t reading so I got into that today...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

A/C parts showed up, drier and O-ring set came first. I got the O-rings just to be thorough. I put the new drier in with the same orientation as the old one. While putting things away I noticed that the old one had IN stamped on the top (the inlet side). I checked the new one and found it had IN...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

After finishing up my household chores, Saturday morning I began the ‘charger install. Started off with this: Then came the removal of the front bumper and lower splash guard for access. Taking a look underneath, I found that the other two coolant leaks I had were both from the lower radiator...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

I've been pressure washing our vinyl fence the past two days (pro tip: don't ever buy one). Have some more to do tomorrow to finish and then maybe some other things. I've set aside the weekend to get her back together as she should be (supposed to rain here so a good time for it). Hopefully...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Painted another coat on the outlet mani highlight after covering up where I got it outside the lines, so to speak. Cleaned up various brackets for the ‘charger and then started its assembly. It wasn’t terribly difficult even given the 11 months since I pulled it apart, as everything pretty much...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Gasket was cut. I cleaned up the outlet manifold and spray painted it so it didn’t look scruffy after getting rid of some build-up where the hose attaches. I did the same for the throttle body adapter to the ‘charger body, as well as the bracket that connects the intake filter with the intake...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

I found out as soon as I started that the outlet manifold gasket was going to be a PITA. The genius who had put it on decided to use what looked to be Permatex #1 to glue the gasket to the manifold. If you aren’t aware, #1 is the stuff that hardens up. Here is how it looked before I started, and...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Well I’ve been busy as noted above, but there were more things that cropped up that held up this project. Finally was able to get back into this a few days ago. There are three gaskets needed for the inlet pieces to the ‘charger, as well as the outlet manifold on top of the ‘charger. The first...

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Which problem? Because there was more than one in there. ;) Well it’s taken me a little longer than planned to dive into this, due to working on other things, dealing with some cold both weather related and physically, and generally dealing with recovering after being away from home for so long...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Replaced both license plate light bulbs. Mazda really went out of their way to make that small job difficult. Didn't see the type of bulb listed anywhere in the owner's manual but the lighting book at the parts store took care of that. FYI, it's 2825.

    NB MX-5: Hey, it's Minnie!

Ha. Ha. Ha... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!! We're talking about the woman who disparagingly called it my "superdupercharger" when I was having problems getting it right in the early days. More like, she didn't feel like moving it past that point.
