Guide 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transfer Case + Rear Differential Fluid Drain and Fill

To add to this thread, did the differential and transfer case change on my 2019 CX5 GTR (same powertrain as CX9). Car has 45k miles. Transfer case: Easy, no fluid dripped out when cracking the fill bolt, fluid was a bit brown but in decent condition. Some metallic shavings on magnetic but...

Guide 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill + Filter Change

Did mine on my 19 CX5 GTR. Went pretty smoothly (knock on wood). The hardest part was applying the RTV and getting it into position. Everything else was pretty standard. It only took less than five minutes to get the transmission above 122 F per the OBD Fusion Mazda package. I don't need to...

    2.5 Turbo Oil Analysis?

Oh that’s interesting on the fuel difference. Not gonna switch but I wonder why?

    2.5 Turbo Oil Analysis?

Lol similar results but I switched to amsoil 5w-30 boosted from their signature. Why? It had a higher viscosity at the higher temperature testing point. I do 5k changes. Their boosted product is also cheaper than their signature product line. So win win. Did you contact Mazda about this? I’ve...

OEM Yokohama tires wear out after 35k? Cost effective replacements?

Mine went to the wear bars at 36k miles. I replaced them with pirelli scorpion all season plus 3 and have been extremely pleased with them. They’re less sporty but they have great acoustics and grip.

2019 CX-5 Driver Seat Came Apart

Im not sure they didn’t specify. Likely they’ll just replace what you linked imho (good link too btw). With dealer markup that part alone would have been 600 minimum so I’m still saving a fair bit to get it replaced. I’m also kinda tired of doing car work right now. I just did a ton of...

2019 CX-5 Driver Seat Came Apart

Its just the upper seat. The seat comes in two parts actually, the bottom and back. Right, it would take me way longer than an hour to do the job. The dealer actually mentioned that it would take them 3hrs but Mazda said to only charge me for the documented replacement time. I’m not sure who’s...

2019 CX-5 Driver Seat Came Apart

Talked with the dealer. Mazda is goodwilling the replacement because I was 300 miles outside the warranty. They are requiring me to pay for labor though (1hr). It's as much as I could hope, I'd prefer if they just replaced it all because this is clearly a latent manufacturing defect but I don't...

    2.5T CX-5 Brake part replacement

Not sure on your second bullet. DOT4 will absorb water faster than DOT3 just because of the higher glycol content. There's no free lunch with this one. You can use DOT4 fluid in a DOT3 system just fine and it will result in increased performance BUT you'll need to change it out more often than...

2019 CX-5 Driver Seat Came Apart

I was wiping down my seat today with a microfiber towel today and the seat came apart at a seam. The stitching is still there but the "leather" literally tore away from it. I have no idea what happened, I only use leather safe products on it, never anything harsh. I'm 200 miles outside of the...

Guide 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill + Filter Change

Tbh how infinitely configurable the app with the reader is was the real draw. You don’t need the extra package unless you want to read certain sensors. There are also other apps that probably do it for free but I don’t mind supporting the developer. I also always have my phone and the Bluetooth...

Guide 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill + Filter Change

Ah it's $30 now. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XKQQQW/ I have one of these in both my cars in their respective AAA bags. Well worth the ability to troubleshoot anywhere for the money.

Guide 2016~2021 CX-9 DIY Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill + Filter Change

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit from the CX-9 crowd but I read a few posts in this thread that the 2.5T (GTR and Signature) CX-5 fill and level bolt placement is a huge PITA. I had a spare minute today and I wanted to take a second look for a small bolt I lost yesterday so I decided to...

    Identifying engine bolt

Lol your post helped me too. Did the spark plugs on a CX5 GTR today. The bolt on the driver side yeet'd itself somewhere in the engine bay. I fished around with a magnet for a bit and prodded everywhere with a surface it could get in contact with something. Nothing. So i guess I'll pay the...

    2019 GTR 2.5T Oil Dilution

No. I've gotten the problem a bit better but i'm always over 4% on my oil analysis. I'm about to send my fourth one out and then i think i'll have enough data to approach mazda directly about it. I'm changing the oil at 5,000 miles, I switched to the different amsoil oil (boosted) as it had a...
