    Rust - is this normal?

    I've checked other cars i.e. Toyota, Honda, Acura with similar age or actually much older and there's absolutely no rust. These are cars from similar weather conditions than my car is. ...I've decided to return the car after end of lease in few months.

    Well, that's the problem. It's Protege5 2003 and only 50000km. The Canadian Tire techs are saying that I need to buy new ones, but other service is saying that the rotors are good for another 50000 at minimum (just need to be slightly machined). I'd like to find out official Mazda specs.

    What is the Mazda recommended minimum safe thickness of brake rotors? (Assuming there are no other problems i.e. scratches)
