So, final bill was $279 after taxes. AC blows Ice Cold now. Better than brand new. The bill said they pulled 0.35lbs of refrigerant out of the system, only says they put the "proper" amount back in.

Called the shop and it was low on refrigerant. They evacuated the system, put in nitrogen, checked it, then refilled with refrigerant.

Had a couple of really hot days and the AC blows warm/cold-ish in the heat. Will blow cool in the morning or when it's not +40°C out. I have it booked in for July 8th for an AC service. I will keep you guys posted.

FWIW, My old S-10 had 9 sets of front wheel bearings. Tried everything, replaced everything and in different combinations. Even used expensive grease. IMHO, something is wrong with your vehicle to cause it to wear bearings that fast.

FYI, having worked at a Mazda dealer years ago, the warranty guys if they are savvy could have got it covered under some sort of warranty or goodwill which is why they had it taken care of for you. Chances are they didn't pay for it either.
