    Cracked Cylinder Head (2018 CX-9)

Sorry to hear this! I’ve read many times going to Mazda corporate can be helpful. Sometimes they’ll offer a partial payment, or full payment. However, some stated they offer nothing. Good luck. What mileage did it happen? Thanks.

CX-70 will have same exterior dimensions as CX-90

My personal thoughts: I got one life and I love to drive. After the head crack and CX-70 hype bs, my next car will be a BMW X5. I’m gonna get what I really want, no “settling.” It’ll cost more but it’ll be worth it. Life is short. Wishing everyone a nice day.

    CX-70 debut information, pictures, discussion

FTA: “Essentially, it's a trim package that Mazda is trying to pass off as a different model.” https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a46573926/2025-mazda-cx-70-vs-cx-90/

CX-70 will have same exterior dimensions as CX-90

The CX-90 looks like a giant eggplant with wheels. If the 70 looks like that, I’m out.

2017 CX-9 Headlight warning light on dashboard

I’ll have random warnings pop up when parked outside on a cold night. “Clear fog from windshield” is a recurring one. No fog on the windshield of course… goes away after 5-10 minutes drive time.

2.5T Cracked Cylinder Head/Leaking Coolant Report to the NHTSA

My 2018 CX-9 has 88k miles and it’s been great. I’m going to send off an oil sample for testing soon. If it comes back with the slightest amount of antifreeze, I’ll be trading my car in so frickin’ fast… and not for another Mazda. If necessary, I would’ve considered a CX-70, but there’s BS going...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I ordered an oil test kit. This coming oil change, I’ll sample and send for evaluation. Hoping that will shed light on my 2018.

Has anyone figured out the average mileage at which the heinous crack appears?

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

This cracked cylinder head stuff is starting to spook me. I’ve got a 2018 with 86k miles. So far, no issues other than water pump replaced and a new dash screen.

    Avoid a previous rental CX-9?

Exactly. I remember when rentals used to be in decent shape. Rental car companies took pride in their vehicles. The last 10 years or so, nope. Not long ago, I exchanged a car because it steered and braked so poorly I lost confidence in it.

    Avoid a previous rental CX-9?

You could have an independent mechanic check it over.

Creaking Noise? Body Flex/Rear Exterior Door Trim/Weatherstripping

Oh the surprises we find shortly after taking ownership. That’s annoying AF. Hope you get it resolved.

2018 CX-9 Speakers cut in and out

The snaps may go away on their own. I gave mine some time and it stopped. However, my sound wasn’t cutting in and out, only loud snaps.

    Radar detector in the CX-5?

I use this to mount it to the rearview mirror: BlendMount Radar Detector Mounts | Custom Aluminum Mounts I power it off the mirror: https://blendmount.com/mirrortap It’s clean, no wires laying around. The Radenso XP detector, almost no false alerts, really quiet, great detector. (Not that...

CX-70 will have same exterior dimensions as CX-90

“… the Mazda CX-70 will share its platform and powertrains with the larger Mazda CX-90.” Possible good news for those who aren’t into “quality risks” of buying 1st year redesigns. CX-90 might be the guinea pig.

What is the purpose of a HUD?

I’ve never had a collision after 40+ years of driving because of looking at a speedometer. Just one mans opinion but the hud is annoying and distracts me from the potential enjoyment of driving. To each his own. 👍🏻

    2021 CX-9 Vibrating

I bought mine from the dealership! 😝 They had a buy 3 get one free sale. My usual tire store (Gateway Tire) didn’t carry Falkens but had something similar… the dealership price (even without the complimentary lifetime balance and rotation offered by Gateway) still saved me $250 over the long...

    2021 CX-9 Vibrating

While I’m not certain, I wonder if Falkens are more temperature sensitive than other tires. I like them enough that I had them reinstalled when it was time for replacements. When I bought my 2018, it was winter. I noticed vibration on and off for a while. As time went on, it went away. I just...

Is the nav system worth it?

As others said, the nav has gotten me out of the “no cell service” jam a couple times. Google maps isn’t perfect but better than anything else I’ve tried.
