What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Besides the new belt and tensioner, I replaced the stock pos horn after it crapped out. These tasks around 70,000 on a 2012 5 GT. I had a Stebel compact nautilus dual tone air horn lying around, new in box. Research suggested the additional relay was unnecessary, so wiring tasks were minimal...

2012 Mazda5 Dash Cam Wiring - Which fuse to use?

This is the route I used. "CIGAR" 15A accessory sockets (Dashboard) according to the book. Double checked orientation of the add-a-circuit plug as instructed. I could not find 7.5 amp fuses at any of the local auto parts stores - at least not in anything smaller than a $50+ bulk fuse pack. Used...

2012 Mazda5 Dash Cam Wiring - Which fuse to use?

This might be a solution, but would the smaller fuses be able to handle the amps? The cam is probably very low draw, but the heaters are definitely not low draw. I guess I could give it a test run with just the heaters and a 10A fuse. If that holds, then adding a 5A for the cam should work...

2012 Mazda5 Dash Cam Wiring - Which fuse to use?

Yeah this is likely the case. Too many amps through that fuse location. Will have to reexamine the add-a-circuit idea for this application.

2012 Mazda5 Dash Cam Wiring - Which fuse to use?

I double checked instructions and installed as suggested - 99% certain I got the fuses in the right spot. Had I not, then the fuse that was too weak for the circuit would have blown. This did not happen, rather the spot on the fuse box where the add-a-circuit plugged in was the point that got...

2012 Mazda5 Dash Cam Wiring - Which fuse to use?

I recently hard-wired (sort of) a dash cam using an add-a-circuit (see photo) at the interior fuse box connected to a 12V female socket (see photo), into which went the cam's 12V male plug. I chose the seat warmer' ACC fuse, but I seem to have chosen poorly. Seat warmers stopped working after a...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

Success! About two months since replacement, and the problems have not come back. Per my previous post, I did not get the tax charged at purchase for the core deposit fee back with my core deposit refund. I will have to take that issue up with the vendor. $13.50 is $13.50, especially when it's...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

U0101 and U0100 are now regularly reoccurring. I picked up a refurbished TCM (L5E4 18 9E1E) from Module Repair Pro https://www.shop.modulerepairpro.com/. Got it within two days of the order being processed, so very good customer experience so far. The only thing I'm leery about is getting my...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

Thanks alawat82. Yes, all the codes leading up to the U101 code were old. Battery voltage codes likely coincided with a recently replaced end-of-life battery. I cleared the old codes, and nothing has popped up in the last two weeks, including any TCM-related error codes. Weather has been cool...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

Update... I picked up an Innova 5110 CarScan Reader to see if I could initiate the same issue with the car, and catch the code live. Either the car had not thrown any codes yet, or the guy at the auto parts store did not know how to operate a reader to get to the ABS codes... After fiddling with...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

Thanks alawat82. Here's my an update on my experience so far: 1. Issue has popped up a couple times again since original post. Allowing the car to cool seems to remedy the situation. 2. The car is not throwing any codes - at least not when the AT light is off. As the trouble light does not...

2012 AT TC lights w/ hard bump, subsequent AT failure

2012 Mazda5 GT auto about 40,000 miles. Could not find quite the same issue on the forum, so making a post. I think I'm on the right track, but would appreciate advice and notes on similar experiences. AT = automatic transmission; TC = traction control First Incident: about 2 weeks ago on...
