    2016~2023 Consumer Reports - 2020 CX-9

Checked out the latest issue of Consumer Reports to see if the 2.5T coolant leak issue is wide enough to have registered in their findings. Apparently not. Unfortunately they don't show '16 & '17's but a perfect engine reliability score for 2018's with original version of engine. On another...

10 foot ladder inside CX-9? Yes.

I was pretty surprised when I realized I could get a 10' step ladder inside, lift gate closed and actually a foot of length to spare. Looks more impressive when the ladder is standing up. Then you really can't believe it fits. Just thought I'd share. 👍

Mazda 6 SkiActiv-D Signature coming (on Mazda's website).

Interesting that this far into the current generation, now in its 7th year, Mazda would add yet another engine option. I'm sure it's an identical version as used in the CX-5 diesel. It's shown under the "coming soon" vehicle tab. Presumably, it's gotta be for the 2020 model year which has to...

Maintenance guidelines makes no mention of addressing carbon buildup / valve cleaning

Flipped through the maintenance manual again to see if the schedule called for any such service and it's ignored. Every other thing you can think of is supposed to be checked regularly (some things that usually are of no consequence). Yet, this critical thing to engine longevity gets no...

Mazda announces end of manual transmission in Mazda 6

...at least for the US/North America for 2019. https://jalopnik.com/the-manual-mazda-6-is-officially-gone-for-the-2019-mode-1833634985 Plenty of people will act upset. But they didn't go out and buy one to keep it alive, at least enough of them. Oh well, it was just a matter of time. It...

Difference between base Mazda 3 & 6 is now only $900 for '19

I just noticed this and it seems odd that Mazda would bring pricing so close. The new 3 is a great car but unless you really just prefer the smaller dimensions, why wouldn't you just get the 6? Prices remain similar too through the trims. Even worse, the 3 hatch starts like $2K more than the...

    2020 Refresh Speculation

Here we can discuss likely changes due for the 2020 model year. Or talk realistic wish list changes. Here's what I believe we'll see. Exterior: - The prerequisite new grill that all refreshes get first. Here we'll see the mesh insert that has made it's way to all other current Mazda's into...

Mazda continues to be slow with model year changeovers - current Mazda 6 still a 2018

I find it weird how Mazda operates in this way. The 2018 Mazda 6 had a big makeover, which made it easy for me to choose it. Fantastic car. But it is now the end of March 2019 and they haven't changed the model year designation when we know there won't be any new changes except maybe the most...

So what are you guys paying for excise tax on your CX-9?

In many states, we get a yearly excise tax bill based on a valuation on our cars. In MA, our system is very top loaded on new cars and drop off significantly each year. I imagine this is the case in other states. Trust me, if you're in a state without excise tax, consider yourself very lucky...

    Car & Driver 40,000 mile update/wrap-up - '16 CX-9.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-mazda-cx-9-long-term-test-wrap-up-review Another great write up. Considering they have a '16 (before some issues were smoothed out) they've had virtually no issues to 40,000 tough miles. C&D highly praises the CX-9. It's true that it exists for many...

1st oil change, dealer says CX-9 requires full synthetic.

I know this not to be true, so it just makes me wonder about the competency of these dealerships as I've heard others talk about what their dealers say. There's a thread on here where a dealer said you CAN'T use synthetic in the 2nd gen CX-9. Obviously not true either. Dealers are supposed to be...

Oil Life displayed as % on 2nd Gen?

I saw that other Mazda's display an oil life percentage as an option along with mileage. However, I cannot find a way to display this in my '18 CX-9. I can only see a mileage option (either on the multi-info display or infotainment display). Percentage is a better indicator. Anyone know? Thanks.

    Mazda service coupons

So I bought my new CX-9 about 4 months ago from a dealer about 65 miles away because of how bad inventory was for Signatures. There's like 7 dealers closer none of which had one. As a result, I receive service coupons from the dealer that say valid only at this dealer that I purchased from. I...

3rd new interior since the 2014 launch!

I have to say I'm totally shocked that Mazda has invested that kind of money in a low volume sedan. It is unprecedented that a company redesigns an interior every 2 years. I didn't expect this major refresh for '18 because I had assumed an all new generation for 2019. So I guess it'll be 2020...

    New CX-7 likely for 2021

https://www.autoblog.com/2017/11/25/mazda-new-crossover-2021/ While Mazda doesn't specify the designation yet, the only real spot in the lineup is CX-7 territory. They're promising something unique to the segment, should be interesting.

Car and Driver long-term update - 25K, no problems

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-mazda-cx-9-long-term-update-review And this is a 2016. 2017's and '18's can only be better. Although better than trouble free is a challenge.

    Tire pressure for 20's.

Mine was delivered with all 4 tires at 40psi when 34psi is recommended. I know it's perfectly safe to run them at 40 but this would stiffen the ride further. Wonder why the dealer would deliver them as such? What were yours delivered at?
