2014 CX-5 owner looking to upgrade. New one worth it?

Interesting, yeah I still have no clue how it got that good of mileage to be quite honest, I thought I messed up my math when doing the pump calculation, but nope. 25mpg.(that's also US gallons too). Empty SUV on the highway it'll easily do 32-35mpg. Best I got was 38 on a roadtrip. Apparently...

2014 CX-5 owner looking to upgrade. New one worth it?

My mom has a 2014 CX-5 with the 2.5. Honestly, this car has totally changed my opinion of Mazda. I used to think of them like Nissan or some other Japanese brand second to Toyota or Honda. But no, Mazda is probably my favorite car brand, and I'm a Volkswagen diehard fanboy. But she now has...

50K+ Mile Owners - Intake Carbon Buildup

I'm sold on prolonged highway driving prevents carbon buildup, but I dont think the short rev-out will clean it out. It might do good for the injectors since they're opening fully and any carbon that builds on the tips, can be removed that way, but for extreme situations, they say running the...

    What's your average speed?

Haven't reset average speed in a year. It's at 39mph. Hasn't moved for about 11 months

50K+ Mile Owners - Intake Carbon Buildup

Our cx5 2.5 has 55k and I swear it runs better than new. I attribute that to long highway driving. If you have a GDI engine and maybe once a month or two months do an hour or more of highway driving of +50mph, you should never have an issue of carbon buildup. In fact, my friends 2007 Passat...

Serpentine Belt snapped at 50k miles?!?

Yup. Ac clutch engaged and disengaged was easy to spin and alternator pulley was easy as well. The hyudraulic tensioner was bone dry too. I looked at the belt again and it has minuscule cracking in it so I guess I can attribute it to that.

    Battery life for 2015 CX-5

IMO, these batteries are cheap and not long lasting. We had to replace ours already on our 2014 cx5 that had 30,000 Miles at the time. Replaced with another oem from the dealer(they paid for the new one so I wasnt about to buy a slightly better one from a parts store). This new one has been good...

Serpentine Belt snapped at 50k miles?!?

So last oil change I did on the cx5, I inspected the belts and they looked fine for now. No real cracks but they were starting to look whethered but nothing to be alarmed about. And 4K later it snapped on the way to work. Limped it there, got my parts delivered to me and I put the belt on. It...

    New Wheels for the CX-5!

Noticeably firmer and choppier. Reminds me of driving a new BMW 3 Series on 19" wheels. It still has a comfy ride quality, but much more firm than on 17's. For me it's perfect but I can see others finding it too firm.

    New Wheels for the CX-5!

So 11/24 is still better than half of the other tires. Don't need nothing fancy, like Pilot Super Sports, or even Pilot Sports. I just wanted a quiet tire that wore very slowly. On my Tiguan they did just that so I thought I'd buy them again.

    Highest Mileage Skyactiv Engine?

I was at Mazda for a bit and we had a 2013 CX-5 as a shuttle vehicle. When I left a few years ago it had 190,000kms on it. Now it has 280,000. I always ask about it when I'm in for service. They say they've only done routine maintenance, tire replacements, brakes, and they had to replace the...

    New Wheels for the CX-5!

Seriously? I had them on my old Tiguan and they did awesome. They were quiet, good on snow, and they took forever to wear. I think I drove 50,000 miles before they were 4/32. I just thought since they were good on my Tiguan with 18" tires, they'd be good on the CX-5. What's so bad about them?

    New Wheels for the CX-5!

My CX-5 has those absolutely terrible looking 17" wheels that came standard on my GS(Touring) CX-5. I've always hated them. I waited it out and finally the damn rubber has worn out, so this winter I took the old all seasons off and bought new winters to fit on the 17's. Now that it's spring...

2013 Maxda CX-5 Wouldn't Start, Crazy Instrument Panel Displays

I'd say most of all electrical issues with modern Mazdas are battery and battery connection-related issues. When I worked at Mazda, we had probably 2 appointments every day where the customer would experience weird issues(much of the time, the issues were all different, like some had power seats...

    Maintenance to catch up on?

I take my CX-5 in regularly to the dealership for services every 5,000 miles(8,000km). Every major service they lubricate brake slider pins, and a more thorough inspection. Every service includes checking air filters, doing an oil change, a basic inspection, etc. But the car now has almost...

Which new 19" tires to buy?

My GS(Touring in USA) CX-5 has those awful looking 17" rims, so they have been demoted to winter duty. There are quite a few Mazda6 GT 19" rims, those beautiful gloss black pieces, for a good price. I want to make those the summer rims however, the tire size recommended is odd, being 225/45/19...

LED headlight alignment for the birds (PDI? what PDI!)

Just so you know, they don't check headlight alignment on the PDI. They just make sure everything is secured as it should be, it runs good, and everything works. They don't check coolant level, brake fluid, or stuff like that, including headlights alignment. That 'should' be taken care of at the...

New wheels and tires needed for summer!

Got my use out of the stock, cheap all seasons on the 17" wheels(they did appauling, what an awful tire...) and ended up putting 70,000kms on them(bald now). So I bought brand new Nokian X-Ice tires on the stock 17's and threw the garbage tires out. What wheels/tires combo should I get? I do...

Dealer Installed Block Heater...or Coolant Heater?

Up in Calgary AB, we're freezing our asses off. It's -25c without the windchill. I decided to plug the Mazda in, first time ever, and listened to the engine bay to make sure something was heating up something, and I heard a buzzing sort of noise, so I know it's working. But what type of heater...

I guess the ABS sensor is okay now? Light just went off?

So I had the CX-5 stored outside for a bit of winter from early September till yesterday. I did notice in the beginning of January when I just started it to let it run, I drove it a few hundred yards to prevent flat spots on the tires. Almost immediately, the traction control light came on solid...
