Water Leak In Rear Cargo Area

I recently discovered water under the floor of the rear cargo area on my 03 P5. Both the spare tire well and areas behind the rear wheel wells. No rusted out wheel wells. Happens if the car is stationary in the rain. I originally was thought it was the rear quarter windows. But, local glass...

Might be the End of the Line....

Looking over my daughter's 03 P5 prior to getting ready to sell it and came across a lot of rust where the right rear subframe attaches to the body. I've seen another post with the same problem. The other side is fine. https://photos.app.goo.gl/aCKx49P2QekBPdwX8 Probably won't pass a NYS...

Loss of Brake Power Assist after Start

The cold weather has caused my 2010 M6 to lose power assist on the brakes after starting the car. Everything is okay when backing out of the driveway, but then power assist seems to go away for a couple of minutes. It happened once over a year ago and twice yesterday. Obviously, a vacuum leak...

    2010 TPMS Diagnostics

Hopefully, the TPMS issue is fixed. Took it to a local tire place for a free TPMS check. It was the RR sensor. Replacement cost $135. Yeah, right. So, I put my spare sensor on the counter and asked how much to install it. $35 - mount, balance, new seals. So I ask "can't you just break the bead...

    2010 2.5L Oil Pan Replacement

Well, the oil pan has been replaced. The mechanic took an "alternate" approach - he separated the engine and transmission slightly to give enough room to get a good bead of sealant between the front of the oil pan and lower part of the front cover. This saved an hour of labor plus a front crank...

    2010 TPMS Diagnostics

The TPMS light in my 2010 M6 GT started flashing this past week. That usually indicates a bad sensor. I checked the air pressures (all were at 32-33 PSI) and did a TPMS relearn cycle, but that did not resolve the issue. All of the sensors were replaced between Aug and Nov of last year. So, is...

    2010 2.5L Oil Pan Replacement

Whoever change the oil in my 2010 M6 GT 2.5L before I bought it really wrenched in the oil drain plug. So much, that the threads were stripped the first time I changed the oil in it last November. I had it heli-coiled. That was fine for about 3 months, but then it started leaking again. So, I...

    2010 Auto Dim Mirror Install

Installed an auto dim mirror today. I got it off a Gen1 Mazda 6 (2006) at the JY for $7. The button on the window is the same between the Gen1 and the Gen2. Spent the most time finding a switched power source. The right A-pillar had 2 larger wires running up it with a funky connector. I suspect...

    Rearview Mirrors Compatible with P5

Well, I got the old mirror off to discover that the "buttons" between the P5 and Gen1 6 are different. The P5 is narrower. So, it doesn't work.

    Rearview Mirrors Compatible with P5

Does anyone know what other interior rearview mirrors are compatible with the P5? I have an autodimming compass mirror from a Gen2 Mazda 6 and was wondering if it would work.

    2010 Mazda 6 A/C Compressor Replacement

The A/C compressor on my 2010 6i is getting noisy. A/C still works fine. I can pick a used one with a 1 year warranty for $75. I'd rather do that than deal with a new Chinese one crapping out on me in 6 months. Is it as simple as evacuating the system, removing the serpentine belt...

What have you done to your P5 today?

Washed and waxed the P5 today. Sadly, it's the first car that I've waxed this year. Sometimes life and work just get in the way of things. The interior will be up tomorrow.

    2010 Mazda 6i Grand Touring

Picked up a 2010 6i GT a couple of weeks ago for daughter #2 to take to college. A one owner car with 131K miles on it now. I picked it up in OK on a business trip and drove it the 1600 miles back to NY. I was never a big fan of the 2nd generation 6. But, after spending 2 full days with it, I...

    New Pioneer Head Unit

Installed a new Pioneer head unit in my daughter's P5 today. Started yesterday. The OEM unit was a royal pain. The right side would come loose, but not the left. Removed the HVAC panel to see what was happening. Turns out the radio was shifted all the way to the right. Thus, I couldn't get...

    P0660/P2009 Codes

I replaced both solenoids tonight. Cleared the fault codes. The P5 is happy again.

    P0660/P2009 Codes

Well, the solenoid on the left (white connector) is reading as an open circuit. So, definitely bad. The one on the right (green connector) is reading 60-70 ohms. I believe the spec should be 22-26 ohms. Maybe I'll just grab 2 off Amazon and be done with it. The vacuum hoses look fine.

    P0660/P2009 Codes

My daughter's 2003 P5 just started throwing a P660 and P2009 OBDII codes. I guess this is something to do with the VTSC/VICS. The car is completely stock with 141K miles on it. So, what should I start looking at? Vacuum lines, electrical? Thanks.

    2012 Mazda 6 Experiences

Well, looking around a bit more, I see people complaining about headlight issues where one or both of the low beams fail. This doesn't seem to be a bulb issue, but something in the connector or harness. Many people replace the bulbs only to have it fail again within a few months. I suspect...

Need help with this new 2004 Mazda 6 Purchase.

I don't think the 170,000 kms are an issue, provided it's been reasonably well taken care of. My daughter's P5 has 225K kms on it, and it runs great.

    2012 Mazda 6 Experiences

Daughter #2 and I were car shopping today to find something for her to take to college. We stumbled across a 2012 Mazda 6i Sport (automatic) with 100K on it. One owner, local car. Very clean. Drove fine. Non-smoker. Only issues were one accident, possibly involving the left front corner. The...
