Drive Belt tensioner leaking at 40,700 miles per dealer

Mine failed at 60k on my 2014. The replacement seems fine at 100k. The reason they use the hydraulic tensioner is not noise, but efficiency. It only tightens the belt under load/rpm. When idle and low oil pressure occurs it will slacken and lessen the wear on the belts and pulleys. Under low rpm...

    '16 CX-5 sport battery

I can confirm, because I changed my own battery out with a Group 35 Costco interstate battery last year, that the OE heat shield that goes around the OE size battery does not fit around the group 35 battery. I threw my shield away. No worries.

    Engine braking during MRCC?

Yes both of my cars have MRCC (2014 and 2018) and they both downshift plus brake. Sometimes my 6 can downshift more than one gear which is frustrating, so on my commute where there is a small hill I will either disengage cruise momentarily and coast down the hill or click up on a shift paddle...

    Fumoto Valve Question

I've had no leaks or issues with Fumoto vales on either Mazda - and I previously used one on the Subaru Impreza I owned for 120,000 miles. I think they're great and make the oil change simpler and cleaner, and you don't have to bother with a crush washer. I am satisfied with the amount of oil I...

    2013 Mazda 6 check engine codes P2243 and P0134

Yes it sounds like the O2 sensor is dead. You just need to change the pre-cat one and I suspect you're over 100,000 miles by now on a 2013? Average O2 sensor makes 120-150k miles max. Any O2 sensor after the cat is only to determine there is a cat converter present and can be ignored.

    CX-5 Serpentine Belt Replacement

My tensioner leaked at 60k so all my belts were replaced at that time and they were honestly about half worn based on the indicator. I think these belts can safely make 100,000 miles if the tensioner can last!

    CX-5 Oil Change with Filter

Why would you bother using a non-OEM filter if the OEM one is the same price or cheaper and meets the specification? The Sky engine runs a variable pressure oil pump that's unique, and Mazda even says their old filters which are the same size are not to be used. This, in my mind, means that...

    2014 Best replacement battery

$72-74 Interstate from Costco with 48 month warranty $89 Exide from Home Depot also an option for low cost: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Exide-Extreme-35-Auto-Battery-35X/204852597 I think the Advance Auto Gold is good, but not for $142 - you better have a great coupon to make it a great deal...

    2018 CX5: Diesel or Gas?

In our area Diesel is almost 30% more expensive than 87 octane gasoline, and our 2018 Touring AWD is getting close to 30 mpg. Do you think the diesel will achieve 39-40mpg? I don't. I'm sticking with proven gasoline skyactiv-G motors. The new one with all the revisions is great, quiet, peppy...

    FSC Inspection Required - Warning

I've read about people having this issue if they have a bad connection to the ground or if they have something plugged into the OBD 2 port. Otherwise I'd check fuses and take the cover off to make sure connections are snug to all the sensors.

Oil filter choice; OEM or ???

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4461225/Mazda_1WPE-14-302_Filter_5k_mi Looks like a great filter. I don't see issues with the OEM 1wpe update at all. Lots of even pleats. When I run out of the japanese ones I will be using them on my Sky-G

    Recommended Mazda CX-5 battery?

Just so you know what you're looking for... it takes a Group 35. There's lots of great options and Costco is perfect. I also found Exide for $80-90 at Home Depot without needing a membership! If you use Advance Auto there's tons of coupons, order online and pickup in store using a coupon so the...

Did they change something for 2017? All the mazda vehicles prior run off the ABS reluctor wheel and do not have TPMS sensors. Are they now running wireless sensors instead?

    2015 Mazda6 Valvetrain noise

I think you misunderstood my post. I used this product: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CR3RXTO/?tag=m20b7-20 Secondly I was answering his question. I am satisfied with how my engine sounds and performs on Mobil 1 0W-20 including oil analysis. I've been on BITOG since 2002. I might change in the...

    2015 Mazda6 Valvetrain noise

I actually noticed something similar and at 60,000 miles I did my oil change with an oil flush from Liqui Moly. Even though I run Mobil 1 and change it every 7500 miles since I did the oil flush the engine has been a lot quieter at idle. During the flush I listened to the engine all 10 minutes...

how much is skyactiv detuned from factory

Aside from running on 87, it's not detuned. It's one of the rarest engines because it runs on sensors (not a table) at WOT. So it is always fine tuning itself on any tank of gas you may run. You will not get much more out of it with a tune unless you are pushing timing with 93 octane fuel.

2017 CX-5 GT BOSE Audio Annoying Noise

On a new car if the dealer is unwilling to help, you need to find a new dealer. They should take the door panel off and locate the banging wires or replace pop clips to get it to attach better so it stops rattling. Best of luck to you.

Blue Line in the Headlight Beam on 2017 GT AWD

This phenomenon is caused by chromatic aberration of the projector lens, which is likely made out of polycarbonate. It doesn't affect anything negatively and is normal. Cheers

Carbon Buildup On Intake Ports Already????

CDC makes an intake valve cleaner spray for direct injected engines. Try that first. That said, mine with 60k on it has none of those symptoms.
