2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

Had a shop investigate and they confirmed lots of play in the outer tie rods. It'll be a while before I can get the time and space to do a tie rod job so am having them replace them and the rear shocks while they are at it.

2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

Can't where I live. At the mercy of borrowing something bigger than my narrow single car garage. Decided at this point its best to just have it inspected.

2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

Will do. Strut mounts got replaced shortly after the lower control arms, and end links, when I had the struts replaced. Edit: Noticed I can replicate clunking noise when stopped and moving steering wheel back and forth. Tie rods maybe?

2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

When I go over small bump like a parking lot speed bump for instance, or a small dip is when its most pronounced. Sometimes I hear it when slow speed turning too.

2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

Guess it was fine. All the bushings look to be in great shape. No idea what's creaking. I still loosened and re-torqued the 158-191 ft lb horizontal bolts with the wheels at ride height for good measure.

Thank you! Well will see how it looks. Something is creaking down there. Suppose it could be something else.

2013~2016 Inspecting and Re-Torquing my CX-5 Lower Control Arms

Hi all, I replaced my front lower control arms back in the summer of 2024. One thing I am noticing is I am hearing a slight creaking noise. It was my first time doing such a job and for the life of me I can't remember if I remembered to raise the knuckle to ride height before torquing...

    CX-5 Battery Replacement recommendation?

Yep! I bought the car in 2013. Replaced the factory battery in 2018, and replaced that one in 2023.

    CX-5 Battery Replacement recommendation?

Huh went down a buck. Pretty sure I paid $125 even plus tax in 2023 when I replaced a Costo Interstate I had bought for $75 in 2018 which replaced the original battery. I'm on my 3rd battery. So far so good on this one. +1 for its easy to replace yourself. Remember you'll need a 10mm deep...

Consumer Reports says Mazda is the safest brand

Prediction: Next year's ratings tank due to move to a giant touchscreen. Why'd you crash? Had to take my eyes off the road to find the damn climate control in a menu. :ROFLMAO:

Going rate for front brake job?

$516 for one end seems within the ballpark of what I've seen. 10% off of that is $464.40. Honestly probably not too bad. When I last did brakes myself in 2023, I did all 4 and parts alone cost me $300 for all of it. So figure parts + labor to have a shop do it on one end and I think $400-$500...

    Lack of fluid change intervals

I would say there's elements of truth to both arguments here. We all absolutely know what the bean counters mean by "lifetime". The fact you can email and call up MazdaUSA and ask them what they mean by "lifetime" and they hem and haw over it and don't give you anything close to a straight...

    Lack of fluid change intervals

Good plan. I just hit 150k on my 2014 and servicing the transmission, rear differential, and transfer case are all on the list. Did the spark plugs today. There is a transfer case if its an AWD model. April of this year will mark year 13 for mine since owning it (purchased April 20, 2013), but...

2013~2016 CX-5 New Spark Plug Time

Hi all, Finally got around to changing the spark plugs today. As I thought I remembered, the Mazda OEM spark plugs I purchased from Med Center Mazda for my 75k change indeed also possessed NGK's "ILKAR7L11" branding / model number. Physically these looked identical to the brand new NGK...
