the offset of the rims i want to put on is 40mm. the rims are 17 inch. would this be ok even with say a 20mm adaptor?

the wheels are off of the BMW so yes, they are 120mm. Has anyone ever heard of having problems with these kinds of adaptors or any negative effects? Wouldn't I have to grind down/cut off my studs in order for the wheel to fit snug on the adaptor. Unless the picture in my head is just all wrong....

After i posted this I actually found some places that sell these adaptors and it doesnt seem to be a terribly expensive idea. The problem is I have to find wheels to put back on the bimmer and I am starting to think its...

I have a set of 17 inch American Racing Rims that were on another car before I bought my MS3. I was hoping to put those rims on the MS3. As it turns out the bolt diameter of the MS3 was a few MM larger than the rims. I was just wondering if you could buy spacers/adapters for this type of thing...
