Here's what an unemployed engineer does to his CX-5 sport!!!

I took the oil pressure reading from the same location that the stock oil pressure sensor is located, it's located near the back firewall and on the passenger side wheelwell, and has to be accessed from under the car. The pics below show the location and the adapters that I used to Tee off the...

    Gauges disappoint

profiler - I agreed with you and what keke12 said. The whole argument of whether a factory analog temperature gauge should be included ends up going out the window if all it does is provide a "dummy" mid-point stop, and if that's the case, might as well not waste the space for it. But also...

    CX-5 USDM 6MT - A little stiff?

I'm curious how they even determined that your fluid was even missing the additive. I wouldn't think that the amount added would change the fluid color or viscosity by very much. Thanks for the update!

    CX-5 USDM 6MT - A little stiff?

There is an adjustable shift cable linkage, you pull a retaining cap off and the cable length can be adjusted in or out using a threaded coupler. I had taken a picture when I removed mine as a reference to myself to put the same adjustment back when reassembling it (see below). If I remember...

Yup, me too, and pretty soon, the industry will probably do away with the tachometer gauge altogether! Electric cars are starting to take a significant chunk of the market already, drive the manuals while you still can!

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been using the mill this past year, and sometimes I just end up forgetting about the good ol' hand drill!

Thanks for letting me know that they sell for $100! Makes me feel a lot better paying $45, woot! These do extend up, but just wont be as high as the original, but usually my passengers are generally pretty short people anyway.

haha, sorry if my reply seemed a bit cocky and pretentious, totally not intended! this part of the build took me a while to figure out, just wanted to provide some of my rationale to the madness! =] my first stick shift car was actually a honda, 91 crx si, probably one of my most-loved cars...

Here's what an unemployed engineer does to his CX-5 sport!!!

Hey fellow engineer! Actually, at first I was going to cut and weld the shift lever to create that new angle, but I found 2 problems which led me to use the adapter instead. At the base of the lever is a molded/glued plastic stopper (to limit the rotation of the lever), I couldn't disassemble...

Here's what an unemployed engineer does to his CX-5 sport!!!

Hahah, I'm hoping that I don't have any catastrophic engine failures during the warranty period, since I usually do the typical maintenance and most repairs myself. But yes, if the engine ever fails and I can't figure it out, then I'm thinking I'll be spending some time putting the stock seat...

Here's what an unemployed engineer does to his CX-5 sport!!!

I didn't know mazda actually had a shorter version available, and why wouldn't they let us have it here in the states??? The center head rests were really expensive, I got them at the dealership for $45 each. What I used to do was take the head rests out and leave them in the hatch area, and...

Here's what an unemployed engineer does to his CX-5 sport!!!

Decided to tackle this little nuisance today... Had some free time today, so I decided to solve this well known CX-5 issue: Those two stupid head rests in the back seat that end up blocking way too much of the rear window. The center head rest is a good height, but for some reason, Mazda...

Awesome to meet a local machinist! I really can't call myself one, still a newbie! But it's definitely in my blood now! That counter bore was something that I regret not doing only after I finished the adapter and put it together. I didn't have the foresight to see how ugly it would look until I...

Thanks for the comments! CC58 - my background is actually electrical, but I've always felt a void since I love the mechanical side of the world so much! In response to your question about bolts, I cannot give you any advice, as I don't believe I have the expertise to provide you with a...

Hello! I'm a long time lurker here, and have only posted a handful of comments, but have never created my own thread... ever! But, this time, I think I finally have something to share. Skip this mumbo jumbo if you just want to see the pics below, but for those that are curious, here's a little...

Hella Loud - Boom Boom for the zoom zoom

The horn was one of my complaints of this car as well, I had to use it on a freeway once and realized how wimpy it sounded! i'm planning on replacing my horns too, but when I tried to access horn in the radiator area, I couldn't find an easy way in, did you have to remove the entire bumper to...
