my check engine light came on recently on my 07 mazda3. i heard it could be because the gas cap wasn't put on properly and i noticed the last time i filled up the attendent didn;t put it on properly. has anyone else had this before and will the light go off on it's own or do i need to take it in?

I have a 2007 mazda 3 GS. I also happen to have a fairly cheap amp and sub lying around my place that i want to install in my car so i can get more bass. I don't really want to spend any money on this. I don't want to put in an aftermarket deck because all i listen to is my Mp3 player through...
