    Brake pulsing

Recently my brakes started to give me a pulse through the pedal. It feels similar to when ABS engages, a bit slower though, but I don't have ABS. The brakes do work and I'm stopping, but I'm worried that might change after not too long. I've checked my rotors and pads and they don't show...

    Battery or Alternator?

Add me to the list of cold weather woes. I'm just not sure if it is the fault of the battery or if it could be the alternator. When I turn the key, the lights are fine, radio, etc. When I try to start the car, it clicks and tries to turn over, but fails. The battery light has never come on...

    P5 1.8 coil swap project

I'm having random misfires with my 02' P5. RockAuto.com & BBB Automotive are out of ignition coils and don't know when they'll get new ones in. So, I think I'm going to go with the 1.8 coil swap talked about in this thread and also in this thread. Here's what the parts boil down to and what I...

    New engine noise

I have a 2002 P5 and in the last couple of weeks have noticed a new 'winding' sound. It has 30K miles and I've driven the last 6K. It's an engine noise and not related to the clutch since it occurs out of gear and gets louder/higher with more pedal. It doesn't go away when the car is warm. If...

    Not Hot Heat

Now that it's getting colder out, I've actually turned on my heater. I bought my 2002 in May, so I never had to before. The problem is, it isn't very hot. It feels slightly warmer than room temperature, but no way enough for winter. Any ideas on what to check before I call up a dealer?

    Cup holder damage

I'm starting to notice some wear and tear on the piece of molding by the heat/cooling controls. The cause of the wear are lids from fast food cups. When placing for example a large cup from Taco Bell into the cup holder, the plastic lid catches on the molding in front of it. When the grey...

    Radio/CD Removal for Dummies

After swapping out my OEM radio/CD player in my P5 today I had some notes that go along with Sir Nuke's guide on removal and tool creation. Call it a layman's or newbie's guide if you will. It was my first DIN removal and until I 'got it' it was a pain in the butt. To get the bezel off, I...

    P5 badge colors

Hi all, I'm a new owner of a 2002 grey(oops I mean Silver) P5 and had a question about the badge on the back of the car. My badge says Protege5 with a silver 5. I've seen others with a red 5. What makes the difference? The year? Thanks. I have some more questions, but I'll start off with this...
