98 626- is there a way to disable auto lock? youngest has locked keys in car twice with it running Thanks

Had my 98 626 at Circuit City trying to get a remote start installed. After all day they gave up saying their was some peculiarity in that they couldn't get it to work unless the key was in the ignition. Is this just a peculiarity with this car? Anyone have an after market remote start...
