I have a 05 mazda3s 2.3 liter. The power steering pump whines when I turn the steering wheel. Anyone have this issue? I don't want to replace the pump if I don't have to.

i have been having a slight humming noise for about 2 months now. it seems to come out about 4o mph. sometimes it is louder than other times. when you slow down from anywhere above 40 mph it will make noise until you come to a stop. it also stinks after you drive it for a little, much worse...
