If you just go into the dealership with the assumption that they will literally tell you ANYTHING in order to get your money, it makes it easy to ignore these ridiculous suggestions.

I think it's just a cover that seals up the bellhousing, and not the bellhousing itself. A leak from behind it would indicate a rear main seal leak but could also be transmission fluid.
