i put the motor in today and still have allot of work to do. just wanted to update you guys and let you know the intake and exhaust cams are labeled FS9. and so far compressor, starter, and exhaust manifold had to be transferred over from the usdm engine, the japanese s*** was completely different.
i have an fs-de with a knock in the bottom end. block will need to be honed, possibly replace crank, no p/v contact, head is in immaculate shape. ill let it go cheap
why would i have to swap the crank pulley, its got room. and that motor in the picture has standard spark plug wires and a single coil. coilpacks are what you see on the northstar V8, k20a2 rsx engine, etc
i gotta take a picture of this thing tomorrow and post it. the motor came with...
I e-mailed and specifically asked if they had the coilpack engine available which they said yes they could do at the same price as the ebay listing, which is the sample picture you see on the website. all i know that im getting written on paper is a 2.0L FS-DE "jdm" with 65k and its the coilpack...
no this is actually a coilpack motor thats coming to me. it looks completely identical to the usdm fs-de, thats why im wondering if im getting lucky and getting a motor that drops right into the mp3 and has the better cams and only 65k
i just bought a jdm FS-DE. am i going to be looking at any big differences putting this motor in it? do i need jdm ecu? also if anyone can give me some insight on this motor. i bought it from a very reputable company for $700 shipped. 65,000 miles. on corksports website these jdm cams cost more...
some vehicles with coilpack engines use something similar to a reluctor ring or an ignitor on the crankshaft. next question, whose got a 2.0l block for me? cash in hand
the mp3 motor is a coilpack engine. i believe all the other 2.0 protege's use spark plug wires. i havent been able to verify this thats moreso where im wondering if theres a difference.
Reason i ask is due to the outrageous prices im finding on mp3 engines i was just gonna buy a regular 2.0l protege shortblock and swap heads. I bought an mp3 with a bad knock in the bottom end. Ive found there is limited information available on these cars, just looking for a little insight...
