Keep us informed about your issue, this is a HUGE safety issue and I plan to contact Mazda directly about this. Anytime you lose speed on a highway (like me) its a big problem.
Got a call back from the dealer, they reset the ECU and drove 50 miles are instructed by Mazda. they were not able to find anything wrong with it since the reset. I am picking up the car today. Just wonderful..... what if this happens again? i.e. sudden downshift and loss of vehicle speed?
I have the same problem, see the post here re: transmission issue :

just an update, my car has been at the dealer since Monday. They have given me a rental car until they can diagnose or reproduce the problem which entailed resetting the ECU and driving it for 50 miles to see if anything pops up. I am a bit concerned but hopeful a resolution will be found.
I used to do all my own oil changes, now I got married, live in a apt and don't have time to spend on oil changes etc. Luckily, the mazda dealer where I got the car from charges me only $55 for full syn oil changes/filter and vehicle inspection. Can't beat that!
Had the same EXACT issue happen to me today on a drive back to NY on the NJ Turnpike (quite eerie that it happened to the poster below). i.e. traction light, low air pressure light and everything else described.
I called Mazda and they sent a tow for me but realized the nearest Mazda...
I too will echo the facts pointed out by others about the Forester and Impreza. I had been on the Impreza forum for a few months waiting on release of the new Impreza only to find members complaing about a slew of quality control issues and above all the almost non-existant ability to hit the...
Not sure what is causing my MPG to start going down (see my Fuelly link below) but since the beginning of Nov, my MPG rating have gone down about 2-3Mpg. Granted I have started carpooling (I have 2 extra passengers on my car now) but it shouldn't kill the MPG's by that much should it? The...
off topic sorta but I have a GT model and am wondering how do I activate my heated mirrors? someone mentioned you turn on the rear defrosters to get the mirrors heated. is that correct?
After owning my GT for 5 months I just realized that despite having my brightness setting set to "auto" my in-dash screen does not dim at all. Is this because the auto headlight on is switched to the on position? In normal cars the in-dash lights dim once you flip on the headlights.
Where did you pick up winter wheels? And can you post a pic of how it looks on 16" rims?? i am very curious as the costs for 17-18" winter wheels are $$$.
There was a nor'easter yesterday and I got a chance to see how the stock all season tires handles in the slush/snow. I started driving about 4 hours into the storm thru some unplowed streets.
On the highways (driving straight of course) I didn't have much issues with traction only except...
